Ryan Collins, 36, from Pennsylvania, has pled guilty to hacking into accounts of female celebrities and stealing such private data as nude photos. Federal prosecutors accused Collins of gaining access to more than a hundred Google and Apple accounts of mostly famous women within two years. The man will also plead guilty to hacking into a protected machine in order to steal data.
The hacker used phishing technique, tricking the victims into disclosing information about their accounts by sending emails pretending to be directly from Apple and Google. Sometimes Collins managed to obtain all the files the women had stored online, and some of them contained nude photos and videos. It is unknown which celebrities were hacked, as their names are not listed in a plea agreement. Moreover, the prosecutors didn’t prove that the hacker posted any of the stolen photos online. It is known that Ryan Collins was charged as part of an investigation into the posting of nude photos of such celebrities as Jennifer Lawrence and Kate Upton, but the hacker was not suspected of being involved in releasing those photos.
In the meantime, an investigation into stealing and posting images of dozens female stars is still ongoing: last month, an Oregon man agreed to plead guilty to stealing such photos from 13 people, including some celebrities, and currently faces up to 5 five years in jail. However, this man is not suspected of being involved in the theft of the images of Lawrence and other suffered celebrities.
Finally, LA prosecutors have got convictions of several individuals accused of stealing nude photos of such stars as Scarlett Johansson and Mila Kunis. In addition, they also prosecuted the individual who videotaped TV sports reporter Erin Andrews in her hotel room and published the video on the Internet. The man was sentenced to 27 months in prison for doing that.

All Hail to that man. My philosophy is that if you make part of the large amount of money you earn because you leverage your sexuality then having naked photos of yourself published is part of the game. If you don't do that then your privacy should be respected.

Peeps should understand the tech they use or this will be a never ending issue.
So much victim-blaming. Even if they are porn actress, they are still entitled to legal protection of their privacy. The photos taken in private is theirs to begin with. They can publish thousands of other nudes and sex tapes but they didn't choose to publish those private photos. Everyone has their rights over their your own photos.

@moodiemimi. none of the actors are porn actors. they are all just regular actors in american movies. thats why this was a big deal. if they were pornstars nobody would have cared. they are all famous women who had their personal icloud accounts hacked into and private pictures stolen off their cell phones.
