Matthew Keys is a journalist who was found guilty of conspiring with Anonymous to break into the LA Times website. For doing so, he got 2 years of jail time in a case that has ignited national debate about how the US prosecutes hacking offenses.
The journalist was found guilty of 3 criminal counts last fall and convicted of giving the hacking group login credentials to the computer system of the Tribune Company, the parent company to the Los Angeles Times, the Chicago Tribune, the Baltimore Sun and other media companies.
Apparently, the hackers used information provided by the journalist to change the headline of a 6-year-old Times story. It then turned out that KTXL-TV, a Tribune-owned Fox affiliate, had previously fired Matthew Keys, so the incident was likely a payback by a disgruntled former employee.
After the sentence was announced, Keys announced that he was pushing forward with an appeal, arguing that prosecutors have brought terrorism charges against people for minor offenses.
The prosecutors first filed charges in 2013, and as a result, Keys was fired from his job as a social media editor at Reuters.
The EFF, a non-commercial organization defending civil liberties online, pointed out that this case was just another example of “prosecutorial discretion run amok”, criticizing the anti-hacking legislation known as the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. The group believes that the case shows how computer crimes are prosecuted much more harshly than similar crimes in the physical world. Matthew Keys hopes that his attorneys could fight the conviction and sentence, because he intends to keep practicing journalism.
In the meantime, federal officials praised the sentencing after the court hearing, claiming that the sentence in question served as a warning for people engaging in this type of behavior that they can face harsh penalties. The US attorney added that although doing no lasting damage, Keys did interfere with the business of media companies, and caused the Tribune Company to spend lots of money of its servers protection. He also reminded that people using the Internet to revenge former employers should understand the extent of the consequences for such conduct.

This is no longer the United States, its lawyers and lobby groups who are making bad legislation, and pushing it threw our elected representatives. Its not any other "establishment" or "gestapo" tactics. These are British Imperialist tactics, also known as "cram-down" offenses. Instead of cramming-down on your telephone bill, the lobby groups are cramming bad legislation, down on your nation. Its not anything other, but lawyers trying to impose their will on the People's government. Think about it: who is providing "counsel" to your state and national government?
All the "fear" mongering, is coming from the lobby, who is "advising" your elected officials at state and national levels.
These are also called "special interest groups." ...Your courts do not serve Justice anymore, they "serve" to keep lawyers in the pockets of corporations (sugar daddy clients) and your governments. ... Passing the costs of their lifestyles and increasing their wealth (by the hour) onto the consumer public. They are padding their hours all the time.
Awake, who provides "counsel" to the media also?
Lawyers are all about making controversy, so they can mitigate controversies. They are doing it all the time at state and national levels. They are using the media to foment those same controversies. They are censuring the news, so you do not figure out its the lobby groups who are depriving you, the consumer, of the information you need to run your democracy.
You need to ban the lobby, from having contact with your elected officers, so they will be serving the Public's interest and not the lawyer-association (special) interests.

You do not have control over your communications and privacy, because guess what, the lawyers do not want you to have control over your communications. They want to reach down into telephone utilities, and make it easy for the government they are "advising" to intercept your communications. FBI and CIA, and "Homeland Snuckerity" is nothing more than a bunch of uptight lawyers.
And they are overpaid.
Take down the veneer of "classified" and you will see its a bunch of lawyers hoarding over the information you need to better run your democracy, which is the exact information, they do not want you to have.
Perform a sliced-image of their building infrastructure, and hidden courts or "underground" type facilities (which is the democracy's infrastructure, the People's government facilities), and you will see its a bunch of lawyers, trying to read and dissimulate, information they do not want you to have.

Call it "the Pinochet Model."
Augusta Pinochet did the same thing: Usurped the democracy, and went to the telephone utility, to evesdrop on everyone's communication, and specifically political candidates and political oppenents to his usurpation.
You get control of the communications, and you can embezzle funds from the People's government, and check in on People and small families who figure it out. You intercept their communications to learn about family issues they are having, to exploit those families by their weaknesses.
Also known as "the junta cabinet:"
You can set up all kinds of "training missions," for intelligence officers, if you can intercept the communications of individuals and small families in a democracy.
Pinochet after he got control of the telephone utility, next went to the revenue department, and had his cabinet advisers, start pulling files that were already settled to re-prosecute (to fake prosecutions) over tax issues, and used the tax-office, as a vehicle to harass his political opponents and their extended family.
He used tax reporting archives, to find out who were the children of a person or husband and wife, and then started harassing the adult children, of educators and politicians who opposed his usurpation.
Behind him, guess who ... It was not the Junta Cabinet, it was a room full of lawyers trying to embezzle money from the democracy also. Chile was a democracy back then.
At the end of his life, Pinochet was put on trial as a lawyer-joke. In old age, Pinochet could not remember things well. He may not have even realized he was under indictment, and may not have known his net worth or remembered how he came by it.
He was accused of embezzling over 20 million in 1970s and 1980s terms. Adjust for inflation and its a lot more.
The punchline to this study of Pinochet: The lawyers under him, were never indicted, they made off with 300 to 400 times that amount.
But if you think about it, its not a funny punchline. Its just another punch in the face of democracy. Really, it is like a democracy being kicked in the face by a "crafty" room full of you know who.
You have to ban the lobby from having contact with your elected officers. It is the only way for the People to get control over a run-away democracy, that makes the most absurd laws, you would never think possible in your youth; and your parents who are wiser and older now, would have never thought possible either.
