|Sweden still experiences a problem with illegal downloads: according to the statistics collected by national police, 75% of intellectual property complaints relate to file-sharing. Although The Pirate Bay is no longer the most popular torrent website, its story remains the most colorful in the history of online piracy.
At first, Sweden took little action against The Pirate Bay and its operators, but under the pressure of copyright owners, the Swedish authorities decided to take matters into their own hands. As a result, the authorities targeted countless torrent sites, DC hubs, streaming platforms and end users. So, now it is considered a somewhat risky country to start a file-sharing operation, but illegal downloading still continues at a pace because the most common intellectual property crimes in Sweden relate to illegal file-sharing, despite physical piracy being valued at billions of krona annually.
Still, the decline is obvious, mostly due to the attractive legal services like Spotify and Netflix gaining traction year on year, with 75% of the population now using streaming services to consume entertainment content. On the other hand, despite the crackdown of recent years, Sweden occupies the third place in the EU when it comes to illegal downloads of music.
The police admit they remain extremely busy processing file-sharing complaints, which they receive around 120 every year. Although not all of them reach the prosecution stage, those are big numbers for a country with a relatively small population. According to the local ISP, 27.5% of police requests for data relate to cases involving online file-sharing, which makes it the most prevalent “crime” committed by users.

|Sweden now has the second highest number of rapes in the world, 1 in 4 Swedish Women Will Be Raped as Sexual Assaults Increase 500%, and they spend so much time and money to catch people who download files.|
|This was a very good observe edddy, it´s more police don´t do in sweden.... 8 of 10 cases like rape still kills and all crimes are unsolved, and they spend money and time to get what??? people that downloading uploading movies mp3´s series games... this is ridiculous!!!|
|That just means complaining is becoming an industry|
|Victims don't pay the cash. While the Corporate guys have bought everybody. So they are trying to get the moneys worth. Some things never will change.|
|120?? At first I thought it must be a typo, and some zeros were left out. If the police are "extremely busy" with that trifling number of P2P cases, no wonder they can't handle all the rapes.|

|Edddy - don't talk about things you haven't got a clue about, just makes you look ignorant. The statistics about crime and particularly rape in Sweden says otherwise. But keep living in your fantasy world, don't forget your haldol though I heard it helps keeping reality in perspective for certain people.||
