|According to British MPs, the country is facing a “digital skills crisis” – the recent survey found out that over 12m adults lack basic digital know how. They point out that systemic problems with digital education and training were costing the UK economy about £63bn in lost income annually. MPs also believe that only joint action from government, industry and educational institutions could prevent the skills shortage damaging productivity and competitiveness.
The MPs highlighted a so-called “digital divide”, saying that 12.6 million adults in the United Kingdom lack basic digital skills, while about 5.8m have never used the Internet at all. The recent survey found the skills gap was evident at all stages of education and training, from the classroom to the workplace. For example, an audit of IT equipment in schools revealed that 22% was ineffective, while only 1/3 of computer science teachers had a relevant qualification. Although the country needs about 745,000 additional workers with digital skills by next year, it had been able to recruit just 70% of the required computer science teachers.
The UK MPs urge to take action, saying that digital exclusion has no place in modern Britain: while the government is to be commended for the actions being taken to address aspects of the digital skills crisis, systemic problems with digital education and training must be urgently addressed in the UK’s forthcoming digital strategy. They also point out that the United Kingdom leads Europe on tech, but it needs to take concerted action to avoid falling behind and therefore needs to make sure the prospective workforce will graduate with appropriate digital skills.

|I think this article is very sinister,British MPs are telling is citizen you are a bunch of morons and we want you to learn basic digital skills so we can spy on your activities.|
|I have grown to see the dumbing effect of a machine that does most of your thought servicing up front. Another immaculate nearly invisible prison.|
|According to British MPs we still need royalty and remain in the eu when in reality eu has lost its true purpose except to be a giant cashcow as for royalty they should have been put against a wall sfter ww2 for been traitors and shot.|
Its foolish to think leaving the EU would solve your problems of trade. It will only enhance the trade problem. between the UK and rest of Europe. If you leave, you wont be escaping it entirely. You will still have too trade with Europe but because your no longer part of the union, you have no say on what brussels does or any union deals. So you can get out, but you never be able to leave. Your part of the euro. Stay and help to improve it. If you don't the future will most likely lead to war.
The short term result? If you leave it will speed up the fragmentation of europe union, your society's will get nastier, tensions will rise over resources. More than they are now.
You will go through a russian soviet union style break up at least in the short term.
Citizens of Britian and Europe are proud people and smart, leaving the EU reflects none of those things.

The funny part is that those 12m adults are voting to stay or exit the EU.
It will be interesting. I can't wait to see the results.
