|Famous tech giant has taken the unexpected step of entering the industry of marijuana: Microsoft announced a partnership with Kind Financial, a Los Angeles company selling computer systems to governments tracking legalized marijuana sales.
Microsoft is headquartered in Washington, where recreational cannabis is now legal. The company decided to license Kind to sell Microsoft cloud services to authorities in order to monitor sales instead of being directly involved in the trade itself.
Kind was founded three years ago and is engaged in selling pot tracking software to growers, sellers and governments. However, even the cannabis company acknowledges that the foundation of its business is controversial. Kind’s website is strait-laced and contains no images of the multi-tipped leaf normally associated with getting high. Its CEO stressed that the company absolutely does not touch the plant itself.
Nevertheless, Microsoft has created a milestone in slow progression of the US towards accepting marijuana, which remains illegal under federal law. This is why many banks refuse to serve companies involved in the regulated pot industry. At the moment, half of the states in the country allow the sale of marijuana in certain circumstances, usually with a prescription or license from a doctor. 4 more states are going to vote on permitting recreational use of the drug in the near future.
Kind will pursue government pot compliance contracts by pitching Microsoft’s cloud services, and the tech giant’s sales team will cooperate with Kind in bidding on those contracts. It is known that Kind and Microsoft have already bid on a contract in Puerto Rico, which now allows medical use of marijuana.
Kind recognized that Microsoft’s Azure Government is the only cloud platform that can meet government standards for the cannabis compliance programs.

|"Microsoft has created a milestone in slow progression of the US towards accepting marijuana"|
#1. That is like saying that Nazi Germany has created a milestone towards accepting Jews, by labeling and tracking them with the Star Of David and IBM's technology.
#2. The fact they still call it by the Mexican slang term rather than cannabis as it was called before Harry J. Anslinger's racist fear and ignorance driven propaganda suggests that acceptance is still far off.
#3. After Montana passed a law that "legalized" it, they repealed that law, and then went down the list of people on these records and raided them. Until there is a move toward federal repeal of prohibition, and abolition of the international treaties that demand prohibition, there has been zero progress toward accepting cannabis.
All there has been is bait for the ignorant, gullible, fools that trust government promises rather than scrutinizing it and demanding real change.
