|Artyom Vaulin, the alleged owner of KickassTorrents, which was taken down by the US government, has retained lawyer Ira Rothken. The latter is known as the legal representative of Kim Dotcom and his indicted MegaUpload colleagues. Ira Rothken believes that his new client has a strong case against the American government and hopes to have Vaulin released from the Warsaw jail soon.
Vaulin was arrested by Polish law enforcement officers a few days ago, following a criminal complaint from the US government and shutdown of KickassTorrents. In the indictment, the Ukrainian is charged with criminal copyright infringement and money laundering. This came as a shock to the torrent community worldwide, as the website has been the largest platform to share content since The Pirate Bay long-term downtime.
The charges against Vaulin are similar to those against Kim Dotcom, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that he has decided to retain the same lawyer. Ira Rothken is familiar with criminal copyright charges and knows the ins and outs of torrent sites, because he also previously represented isoHunt in a civil case. The lawyer believes they have strong arguments to have the criminal complaint against Vaulin dismissed, as torrent sites and trackers are devoid of any content files, so the infringement occurs offsite without KickassTorrents being involved. It should be mentioned that similar arguments are also being raised in the MegaUpload case, which is still pending.
So far, the alleged owner of KickassTorrents remains in a Warsaw jail pending his extradition request, though his lawyer hopes that his client will be able to fight his extradition outside of jail.

|It is a for sure thing that they did delete content. Im sure that will be in the arguements. Although the Dotcom case is going on and on and...ad infinite.|
|Hopefully he saved a few dollars for a rainy day.|
Rainy days ahead.
I think this will be a trophy case and no way is he going anywhere other than the U S A.
|What a total waste of tax payers money, it's not like anything has changed as everybody I know & speak to still downloads exactly the same amount of torrents as they were doing.|
With so many violent crimes being committed & prison space & budgets under pressure I see no greater waste of our money, it's pathetic!
|Well. I hope Kat win and make torrent sites great again.||
