|Facebook will bypass adblockers on its desktop version. It must be said that Facebook and Google control almost 2/3 of the digital advertising market. However, they are not immune to the prevailing trend of using adblockers, which doubled in just over 2 years.
Industry watchers also note that the giants’ approaches to the problem have differed: for example, Google has become the member of the “acceptable ads” program run by Adblock Plus, which allows to display selected ads if they are nonintrusive and secure, and if the advertiser pays Adblock Plus a cut of the revenue.
As for Facebook, it also made a sideswipe at the acceptable ads program, announcing that it will only be bypassing adblockers on the desktop version. This means that mobile users can continue to experience an ad-free version. This is an insignificant number of users, because the vast majority of people use the company’s apps that are usually immune to adblockers.
According to Facebook, the new controls will allow users to manually remove certain preferences from their profile and opt-out of certain customer lists – for example, to make sure that “liking” a page doesn’t bring you ads from that firm. While Facebook hopes to sweeten the bitter pill for former adblocking users, it is likely to find itself embroiled in an arms race with adblocking firms: for instance, Adblock Plus has already claimed that Facebook’s decision was “an unfortunate move, because it takes a dark path against user choice”. Adblock Plus pointed out that circumvention of adblockers happens every day, and there is nothing that is hard to tackle. Facebook hasn’t disclosed how it is going to bypass adblockers on its desktop website.

SCREW Facebunk!!! Glad I dumped them long ago....
ABP doesn't get rid off all the ads on FB. I also use the FB Purity add on (there's also a greasemonkey script of it, too).

Luckily Facebook is blocked in my country : D
@2 try this from the ET FAQ
If you don't like banners and ADS links you can remove it. Registered members can hide all banners and ADS links in settings. Just register and change setting to hide ads.
So lets all dump this site too. No need for a ad hominem attack.
You find Facebook useful? Fine by me. Knock yourself out.
A growing number of people, myself included, are no longer satisfied with the site and are unsubscribing.
Don't care about FB if it went down tonight forever wouldn't batter an eyelid. @2 I get no ads apart from the vpn sponsor which is no worries
This site has some dodgy ads, just a popup window suggesting I update my flash player from 3rd party site. I have the latest player installed thank you.
Also chocolatemilk I only login into this site when I want to comment. They have every right to advertise, but allowing malicious ads and popups is a no no.
Facebook is for Paedofiles and people with no REAL life or friends.I left the site 6 years ago and have not looked back since.I would not waste the rest of my time left on this planet on a silly website full of ads and people putting fake statuses.

I haven't had problems up until this morning = AdBlock+ for the most part works great on Facebook . This morning I logged in - Every 4 or 5 posts on my feed were Sponsored Ads ( it's uses my liked pages - games - etc to send suggested ads ) . I'm curious if there is a way to block these as well . It appears I'm directed here ( Manage Your Ad Preferences . ) Or I have to delete the Sponsored Ad off my feed individually one by one . To get rid of them . I have to click Hide ad / See fewer ads like this and then give a reason why ... rackin frackin bricken bracken %#@#@$%

I don't use Facepuke desktop app. Anyone who does deserves the multitude of ads. I only go to Facepuke in a secure browser. If it weren't for my grandkids I wouldn't even go there.

I wish I didn't have so many friends on FB.
The ads are scary how tailored they are. I had a T-shirt advertisement for a shirt saying I live in country x but I was made in country y. (I am an ex-pat). I also don't like the MILF dating ads. I have a gf, but apparently they don't know that at least.
