"Today, 31st may is World No Tobacco day. So for those who do smoke, let today be the day when you quit smoking.
An American plant (Nicotiana Tabacum) of the Nightshade family, much used for smoking and chewing, and as snuff. As a medicine, it is narcotic, emetic, and cathartic. Tobacco has a strong, peculiar smell, and an acrid taste.
The leaves of the plant prepared for smoking, chewing, etc., by being dried, cured, and manufactured in various ways.
Here Are Different Forms Of Smoking And Tobacco Use:
Apart from the common forms of smoking like cigarettes, cigars and pipes, there are some other forms of smoking as well. They are discussed below:
2) Smoking hashish
3) Smoking cocaine
Apart from these different forms of smoking, there are also different forms of tobacco use:
4) Chewing tobacco
6) Dipping tobacco
7) Kretek or clove cigarettes
Consequences of Using Tobacco in Any Form:
Tobacco has been variously hailed as a gift from the gods, a miraculous cure-all for life's physical ills, a solace to the lonely soldier or sailor, a filthy habit, a corrupting addiction, and the greatest disease-producing product known to man. This diversity of opinion has continued unchanged for centuries and has appeared until very recently to be little affected by research results from more than 900,000 papers thus far published on the topic. It is common knowledge that cigarette smoking is the single major cause of cancer and cardiovascular disease in the United States, contributing to hundreds of thousands of premature deaths each year, yet one-fourth to one-third of American adults continue to smoke.
Disease Caused by Consuming Tobacco:
1. ORAL CANCER - At least 80% of oral cancer patients are smokers.
2. LEUKOPLAKIA - Approximately 80% of leukoplakia patients are smokers
3. NICOTINE PALATINUS (STOMATITIS). Once a common mucosal change of the hard palate, nicotine palatinus has become something of a rarity as cigar and pipe smoking have lost popularity.
4. SMOKELESS TOBACCO KERATOSIS
5. SMOKER'S MELANOSIS..
6. SUBMUCOUS FIBROSIS
7. LEUKOEDEMA – 60% of smokers get this disease
8. HAIRY TONGUE
11. ACUTE NECROTIZING ULCERATIVE GINGIVITIS (ANUG) – mostly happens to d people who smoke abt 10 cigarettes
12. DELAYED ALVEOLAR WOUND HEALING
13. CARIES (Tooth decay).
14. TOOTH ABRASION.
15. EROSION - The chemical dissolution of enamel has occasionally been reported in tobacco smokers and chewers, but only as a secondary consequence of using breath mints or as idiopathic cases. Erosion does not seem to be a serious problem and, in fact, chewers may be somewhat protected by the natural alkalinity of smokeless tobacco.
16. DIMINISHED BLOOD FLOW - Several physiological oral alterations produced by tobacco use have already been mentioned. The average smoker experiences a 60-70% reduction in oral mucosal blood flow while smoking
17. POOR PERIODONTAL ATTACHMENT - The cytotoxic substances absorbed from tobacco, especially nicotine and cotinine (its major metabolite), are found in secreted saliva and crevicular fluids.
18. INCREASED SALIVARY FLOW - While cigarette smoking typically causes a noticeable short-term increase in salivary flow rates, the long-term influence of tobacco use is unclear
19. CANDIDIASIS AND MEDIAN RHOMBOID GLOSSITIS. The great majority (83%) of oral candidiasis patients are moderate to heavy cigarette smokers.
20. ZINUSITIS - Tobacco smokers are much more prone to maxillary sinusitis than nonusers and this condition typically resolves or is significantly reduced when the smoking habit is discontinued.
This is just a part of the list for consequences of smoking…..
And i have a message for People who smoke :
think about one thing, Someone is waiting for you at your house door just to see that you reach home safe. Don’t think about your self, think about them .. Before u smoke a cigarette…
We all have to die one day, that's a fact we all know. But the way we decide how our death will be does matter, Would you like to die like a human with no problems and dying the way almighty has decided for you?
Today as it is ANTI TOBACCO DAY let us all promise that we will stop smoking..
If u don’t believe in what I say then just watch this video which will tell you how that “smoking kills”
Stop smoking and lead a healthy life….. and live longer…….
[NOTE: if you need more details about the disease just Google the names & you will get all the details u need…]"

nice post does this mean bonging is bad too...
When every one stops smoking how will the governments cope in this resection and era of cost cutting?
In the UK everyone goes on about how much it costs the national health service, approx £5 billion,WOW if we stopped smoking what could we use the money for.....???? Whoa hold on lets look at the tax and excise our governments take every time a pack of cigarettes or tobacco is sold..Hmm last year in the UK the government raised more than £10 billion..oh dear lets say thanks to the smokers who raise £5 billion(-NHS costs) a year for them! goto go away for a smoke.
In this day & age you don't have to smoke to get fatal lung cancer.
Just take a look at the people who live in London.
There is that much pollution from vehicle exhaust pipes the poor sods
go cold turkey when they go indoors !
Nicely put Uncle Alf.. If everyone gave up the smoking habit, where
would this government raise the £10 - £15 Billion in tax !
I need a ciggie just thinking about it.
No Smoking Day - What is it a Facebook Group !!!!!!
i am glad i don't smoke :)
it's nice to know that there are people who are active to stop this crime.
smoking should be banned permanently.
not only because it kills people but to stop the loss of family members a one have.
because od it many youngsters got sweeped away and it is all my personal experience.
many of my friends smoke and they are all carried away from their career and even though who remains steady at their career still struggles hard to give out the best they used to d before but they can't as it distracts your mind too.
trust me it's the worst enemy you will ever want.

Guess what? Obesity will soon pass tobacco as the deadliest killer. Are we going to outlaw Twinkies when that happens? I don't condone smoking, though I do smoke. I just can't stand non smokers pitching such a huge fuss over something they don't engage in. If smoking were somehow eradicated, what cause would these people champion next? Alcohol ruins all kinds of peoples' lives, and yet there is still a bar on every corner. High fructose corn syrup is a deadly substance, but it is difficult to find a product at the grocery that doesn't contain it. What about pharmaceutical drugs? They screw lots of people up as well and yet the big drug companies report windfall profits quarterly. There are a lot of bad substances out there that humans are exposed to, and yet tobacco seems to get the bum wrap... whatever!

I did smoke in the past for 26ish yrs. I have been smoke free for almost 3 yrs and going strong. I have to say, being an ex smoker took loads of work. It is not an easy thing to do. There were times I would just say the screw it and want a smoke but I never did. I live with 2 other smokers and until one quits, you have no idea what people who smoke smell like. I can give one example. Take a full ashtray and put water in it, leave it for a few days then take a sniff. People who smoke smell worse than that. I can't believe I smelled that bad. Yes I have to agree there are a lot of bad things for you in the marketplace, but drugs, alcohol, and smoking are what affects other people besides the user. I quit cause it was bad for my health and I shouldn't have to be affected by others who smoke. It is your choice to continue smoking like it was my choice to stop. Me stopping has no affect on your choice to smoke. But your choice to smoke still has an affect on my choice to stop. Second hand smoke is still bad and even worse for people. I am glad I quit and will still be a non smoker till the day I leave this life. My life is much healthier since I quit. Still would be nice not to have to hold your breath while going into a grocery store entrance or mall entrance or even walking down the street past smokers who are everywhere. I am an ex-smoker who deserves to breath fresh air.
Its a persons choice whether they smoke or not..... I am a smoker and I will quit when I see the time is right..... I dont see what today has to do with anything.....Nice read tho
well i am also smoker , but i smoke only 1 or 2 cigarette daily. i have tried many times to quit but i fail. after seeing this freaky video i am now fearing to light up a cigarette...from today i will not smoke ,,i dont want to die quickly , i am thinking that i have been smoking for so many years and i have smoked already more than 400 i am afraid now, will not smoke again. and strangerous this is a very good post

lol the Tourette Syndrome guy got banned...
Smoking is fine people just are twisted up in a knot over 2nd hand smoking too much...I see where in food establishments it is good but for like a bar or other public places there's no point in that. Around here when that ban came in place it killed the bar's nightly business.

Well thanks for this article it serves to prove a couple valid points! 1st Smokers who want to smoke will always find a way to rationalize and justify doing so even when faced with evidence of the massive harm it causes.
2nd people who don't smoke or have never smoked will always seem to be talking down to those who do as if pontificating, spewing facts they copied and pasted from someplace more informed!
I have smoked for nearly 40 years bought my first pack of Marlboro Reds at 13 for 55 cents. I've been addicted to alcohol and all kinds of drugs including narcotics none of those addictions were as powerful or persuasive as cigarettes. As I get older I begin to see things differently, I seem to look beyond myself and I get glimpses of my 3 year old boy waiting at the door when I come home.
I quit smoking this past Friday the following morning my son asked what the patch was on my shoulder. He wanted to see it! I explained that his dad was giving up cigarettes and not going to smoke them anymore. He asked me why? I explained!
The next morning I grabbed some coffee and a patch out of the box when my son interrupted me. He said dad, can I put the patch on for you! i think that maybe I'd like to stick around a bit longer to see what kind of man my little man becomes!

cancer runs in the family might as well go out with one bad habit and some enjoyment
I wonder what comparisons could be made between smoking pure tobacco in a 2 foot long(60cm?) "peace pipe" like the indians used to do, and chemical and poison filled cigarettes of today. After all a long peace pipe would absorb most of the tar inside the long shaft of the pipe as the smoke cools, before entering your lungs. Perhaps not unhealthy AT ALL. PERHAPS THE NAME SHOULD BE CHANGED TO ANTI-CIGARETTE DAY NOT ANTI-TOBACCO DAY.
its so hard to quit/.... i tried the patches they dont do anything for me.....I want to quit but cold turkey doesnt work I get irritable and want a cig...... I am gonna try the electronic smoke free cigs when i get the money.....no smoke no tobacco no tar just the nicotine and try to quit from there but heck they cost 100 dollars for just the starter kit.....refills arent that bad but right now money is tight with the economy and bills and such
BTW what the heck is up with the people scrolling nothing but cussing in the comments??

I have seen three of my friends die of smoking related illness. Before the illness struck they would laugh about it and mock people who suggested that it would kill them. In the weeks before their lives ended, the jokes suddenly stopped as they realized that death was just a matter of weeks away. Painful, short of breath, wheezing hours before the end. Lots of crying by them and saying goodbye to everyone and everything they loved. I wish I videoed it. So Yeah, enjoy your ciggies. Think of those that you will leave behind or just laugh it up. Keep on telling yourself it only happens to other people.

smoking can kill so can drive a car play computer games having sex list is long :P smoking FTW :P
Everything in todays world kills you. Hell they've had studies proving drinking to much Orange Juice can cause Cardiovascular disease. Doesn't matter what you do live your life do what you want if smoking doesn't kill you a drunk driver, war, gang violence, or some other random thing will.
yeah taker u are right even a car drive can kill.... but to be frank..... if a person dies from a car accident he'll die in few min or days...... if he has luck.... but cancer is such a disease which kills u slowly...... its d time d person realises his mistake..... he has to pay for his mistake by paying huge bills in hospital n lot more i don't wanna mention........ he knows he has to die but too he'll try to escape...
ok lets do a small calculation........
if a person smokes 30 cigs a day its abt $3.19. in a year its $1164.893.... if he
styarts smoking at d age of 15 u take ..... n untill he reaches abt d age of 50 he would hav spent $40711.27 ... only... n if d same money he would hav saved from d age of 15 he would hav got around $44394.56.... wit an interest of abt 8.9% PA..... so which is better?????? u all decide.......
what a calculation strangerous ,, lol u should be health minister of et , . its very hard to do in real life strangerous .its very easy to give speech but its very hard to do in practical life

they say drink driveing kills 2 but how many ppl died from drink related incidents last year and how many people died from driveing incidents last year and now see how many people died from drink driveing incidents last year and you will find drink driveing comes in last place by a substantial ammount so u do the maths im drink driveing just to be safe lol

Geez reading that depressed me so much i had to have a ciggie to cheer myself up. I am not stupid i know smoking is doing me no good and may well end up killing me so i add it to the very long list of things these days that do me no good and may end up killing me. Seriously i don't smoke around anyone who doesn't also smoke and i am considerate in my smoking so lay off the lectures and leave me and all the others alone fgs. When the same rubbish is put onto alcohol maybe i will be less peed off by all this anti smoking rubbish but alcohol is a worse problem then smoking and always has been but because the majority like a drink in whatever quantities we can't have a go at the beloved alcohol. Trouble with the world these days is too many people being too busy sticking their noses into the lives of others because they clearly have little or no life of their own.
I'm gonna stop smoking one at the time!!!
You would think anyone who pirates would be above using propaganda. Yes smoking causes health problems but it is the right of the individual to choose what to do with their own body. The only reason there is any say government concern over smoking is cause greedy health insurance corporations don't like to have to pay out. Otherwise they would not care and they would just see it as another form of population control. I use tobacco and no amount of those idiotic television ads are going to make me stop smoking. If I stop it is a personal decision cause I want to. If anything Marijuana should be legal and not tobacco. Marijuana is less harmful than Tobacco and Alcohol combined and anyone who says different has an agenda and/or has never used it. Legalize it! P.S. I agree with Rasax 100%
IF READING THIS "POST" MAKES YOU FEEL BAD BY SMOKING, EITHER STOP! NOW
OR GOOGLE FOR MORE INFORMATION.
I CONDONE THIS PERSON FOR SCAREMONGERING SMOKERS.
EACH & EVERY PACKET ( LEGIT ) IS TAXED WITHIN IT'S REGION & THE TAX GAINED
IS PUMPED BACK INTO THE GOVERNMENT.
HOW ON EARTH, COULD CHINA SURVIVE IF THEY THEMSELVES STOPPED SMOKING !
IT'S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE, MATHEMATICS PREVAILS HERE 100%
LIKE THE OLD SAYING " CAN'T TEACH AN OLD DOG NEW TRICKS ".
IF YOU SMOKE OK.
IF YOU WANT TO QUIT, THEN SELF-HELP IS NEEDED.
( ALSO WILLPOWER IS A GREAT ISSUE ON THE MENTIONED ABOVE ).
ALL THE HYPE REGARDING "SMOKING" IS GETTING REALLY OUT-OF-HAND.
JUST HOW MANY PUBLIC HOUSES HAVE CLOSED BECAUSE OF THIS GOVERNMENT.
JOBS LOST, CLOSED BUILDINGS & CREATES MORE CRIME !
BASICALLY, FOR ALL THIS "NO SMOKING DAY WORLDWIDE"
I SUGGEST " DO WHAT YOU WANT TO DO DAY"
FLAMING HELL, IF IT'S NOT YOUR GOVERNMENT TELLING YOU
IT'S SOMEONE HERE TELLING YOU.
& I THOUGHT THIS WAS EXTRA-TORRENT.
SaM > YOU MAY BE SUPER ADMIN, BUT IN NO WAY ARE YOU GOD.
YOUR INFORMATION IS 100% CLEAR, BUT NONE IS ACTUALLY CONFIRMED IS IT !
MOST OF YOUR POSTS ARE INTERNET CLASSED ( INTERNAL ); MEANING ANYONE OF
US CAN "GOOGLE" IT, AND FIND THE EXACT POST YOU PLAYED 100%.

Sam never said he or she is god. And being a ET-cool type of person, he or she never would.
And most of Sam's points are confirmed. Some pro´s of smoking are left out.
I smoke and know my longs are good for maybe another five years.
I'm 45 and started smoking at age 11.
That's not statistics, that's fact.
And my smokers cough is developing.
Even though I will never quit, it is fine to suggest people to never start the habit or quit at any stupid occasion.
I don't know Sam, but ET is a expression of freedom over dogma.
Quitting is freedom I personally reject,
But I appreciate the freedom.
I appreciate the sidestep.
Let´s keep economics out of it.
Life causes death.
We can all make a choice.
what d hell guys...... 1st of all can u just tell me... if v don't get d info on google than on whr will we get it????????? u'll not come to our home n give us extra info....
n yes dis post is by me not by SaM so stop blaming him....for anything.... n i don't think thr is anything in d post which is against d govt or someting.......if u wanna learn something from d post u cn or else just do ur own work..... dis post is for all who feel "SMOKING IS WRONG" if u don't feel pls don't waste ur time.....

Well I guess selfishness and arrogance go hand in hand with being young so go ahead and have a giggle, make your jokes and give everyone who might disagree the finger...
copy and paste your comments into a family scrap book, if you have a family. Better yet print them and paste them next to pictures of the people and things you love. Now grab a cigarette or a joint, light it up and say outloud, I CHOOSE THIS OVER YOU! I could stop this if I valued you more but I don't so too bad so sad. I'm choose to smoke deal with it!
Incidentally, the government of Australia just raised the price of tobacco products by 25% and have ordered all tobacco sellers to remove all tobacco products from plain view by January 2011. It is said that The sale of Tobacco products accounts for 20% of sellers total revenue which on average covers their monthly rent.
On average a pouch of tobacco would last me 4 days, each pouch now costs $30.00, say I use 7 pouchs a month thats about 210.00 per month.
I have a wife, 2 kids under 5 a step son aged 15, a mortgage and bills. Should I tell my son I decided smoking his education was more important, should I tell the 15 year old we cant afford cadets because I spent the money on tobacco, papers and filter tips?
laugh while you can, while you have the breath to do so!
|i just liked your artical its really very very good awareness but wht to say its very hard to quit once u started in practical live we have this life once so guys dont destroy your life in all this stuff be care ful||
