|The gaming-focused Blackcat-Games website seems to be in legal trouble: its domain is currently redirecting to a server operated by the UK's Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit, which is known for its efforts to close down torrent, streaming, and file-hosting websites.
Many websites located outside the United Kingdom didn’t take the threats seriously, but the UK police have proved that it still can make an impact: for example, a private tracker Blackcats-Games with about 30K members, known as a major player in the gaming torrents scene for many years, apparently attracted the attention of the UK authorities and went offline. Now most visitors to the site are greeted with the familiar UK police banner. It is known that the police images appearing on its main page are being served from an IP address under the control of the UK police.
The appearance of such images usually suggests that the site was raided and/or its operators arrested. However, the authorities haven’t announced this turn of events, and there is also a less dramatic option. Sometimes the police approach registrars asking them to suspend domains. Some registrars refuse, but some comply, quickly taking domains out of the control of site operators. This may be the case of Blackcats-Games.net.
So far, no official announcements have been made by one side or the other, and the website users presume the worst. Some sources claimed that there has been an arrest but it was unknown who was detained, while others say that the owner of the tracker has been raided and arrested, and his equipment was seized.

|Lets get one thing straight....this division of the "UK POLICE" are in fact the city of London police....their jurisdiction is in the CITY OF LONDON yet they will try to flex their muscles outside of their domain to anyone daft enough to take notice...no doubt our lovely PM will grant them shoot to kill powers in line with her fascist mindset in the near future...my advice is to tell them to shove it, along with all the other little englanders who voted brexit...(deliberate lower case there!)|
|Completely agree vapourtrail!|
|It reminds me of the guy saying "you can't do this" over and over and yet they did it.|
|Okay folks. Torrents are still legally okay unless they are not original projects. (this is where intellectual property comes in.) I will probably just data dump to a binary newsgroup then. Putting up a private torrent site is just not cool anymore.||
