|Russian producers of movies and TV shows claimed they want search engines including Google, Bing and Yandex (the most popular Russian engine) to wipe piracy from their search results. The copyright owners want them to remove links to pirate websites on demand, or face being held liable for 3rd party copyright violation.
Most people know where to find free content and go directly there, but some prefer to use the services of search engines. This is why Google and Bing are now regarded by the world’s entertainment industry groups as major drivers of traffic to pirate websites. These search engines get hit with millions of DMCA warnings per week and generally comply by removing millions of links from their results.
However, the situation looks even more complex in Russia, where entertainment industries want a change in the law in their favor by demanding search engines to remove links to pirate websites from their results entirely and accusing them of third-party infringement.
The local Association of Film and Television Producers (APKIT) sent its suggestions, where they foresee companies search engines being forced to deal with copyright infringement, to the Ministry of Culture, which is currently drafting new anti-piracy legislation.
However, there is a difference of opinion among lawyers over the search engine liability and whether they have to remove links, which depends on whether they are regarded as information brokers, information intermediaries, etc. As long as there is no clarity on the definition of an information broker, the producers believe it is necessary to determine the liability of search engines in the law.

|3rd party violation?? Does Russia know that Google(NSA) isn't located in Russia? LOL Same way they steal everyone's emails, pics, conversations... Once it bounces off a server in a country with no privacy laws, it's game over!||
