|The porn company ALS Scan has filed a complaint to expand the lawsuit accusing CloudFlare of providing services to infringing websites: the adult entertainment publisher wants to hold hosting providers liable for copyright infringement.
A few months ago, adult outfit ALS Scan took legal steps to hold several third-party services accountable for the allegedly infringing actions of pirate websites. The company targeted CloudFlare and the advertising network JuicyAds in court over image copyright infringement carried out by the users of pirate sites they provide services to. The porn publisher explained that the pirate websites would not have been able to thrive without help of companies providing them valuable services.
Back in October, JuicyAds was cleared of any wrongdoing and the case against it was dismissed, but CloudFlare remains a defendant. Moreover, in an amended complaint, other companies have also been dragged into the dispute: for example, a well-known hosting provider OVH was targeted as well. ALS Scan claims that the provider, based in France and Canada, is responsible for providing services to pirate websites and thus facilitating copyright infringement. The US hosting provider Steadfast Networks is another new target. The Chicago-based provider is accused of hosting illegal websites, including Imagebam.com, which ranks #680 in the world with over 40m visits per month. The third target is Dolphin Media Ltd, a Hong Kong-based firm behind an image hosting site operating from Imgchilli.net. The last (for now) defendant is Hivelocity Ventures, which hosts “pirate” websites including namethatpornstar.com.

|I wish there were as many cases against 3 letter alphabet organizations and anti-piracy groups. But then again, illegal spying/looting/breaking into peoples homes isn't really a crime.|
