Over the last years an international Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) was developed as a piracy pact by efforts of President Barack Obama and President George W. Bush. The leaders of the country convinced the world community to keep the content of the Agreement in secret till its enactment for a long time, but it is already open for public access now.
Some scaring articles are gone in the draft, like warrantless searches of devices like iPod at the borders for alleged infringed contents. But instead some equally alarming provisions appeared: for example, establishing of a new class of copyright crime, so-called "imminent infringement". That represents a basically thought violation, while the idea of the provision is to charge people who could be getting ready to violate the copyright law with a crime.
So now one of the major world powers might get ready to oppose the American's controversial agreement. As one of the famous Indian politicians said to the local newspapers (remaining anonymous), India was preparing to an opposition effort. He also mentioned they would negotiate with like-minded countries such as Egypt, China and Brazil, and would probably stand against ACTA proposal both together and separately by discussing with the countries involved.
As for India itself, it is especially worried about specific patent conditions of the Agreement. In case India sends Mexico some pharmaceuticals that aren’t covered by patents neither in India, nor in Mexico, but is covered in America, U.S. customs could seize the goods at sea. That’s what ACTA says about the case: it will be a definite infringement if a company holds a patent for a medicine in any country, despite of its scope and validity.
That is only one of the provisions that America and other wealthy countries can approve. They favor only the secrets summits of such nations as the EU, Japan, Canada, and Australia, while passing over the major copyright forums like the WTO and the World Intellectual Property Organization.
Although it might be too late for India to prevent ACTA’s appearance, a joint opposition from developing countries like India, Brazil and China may force America to considerably weaken the Agreement, which is only one sign of a pushy anti-piracy movement in the country, coming from media labels and their government lobbyists.

Sam you are wrong and it is wrong to claim it is the United States who started 'ACTA".
What Bush and Now Obama are doing is claiming "ACTA" is covered under the national security act and they don't have to tell us crap.
You have better pay more attention to what your own politicians are doing in India ..
This is a world issues and blaming America isn't going to help; blame ALL the COUNTRIES involved in this INCLUDING INDIA...

why blame every1..america is clearly lukin at its benefit and has a "go to hell attitude" for every1 else..but now developing nations r no longer "developing" n soon becomin "developed",it worries uncle sam a lot n thts why all these stupid rules..take nuclear liability bill for instance...with their economy crashin day by day they r gettin to these methods of muscle flexing, but it wont take them too far...

If something happens that any country doesn't agree with, it's gotta be America's fault. Having someone to blame makes people feel comfortable that their owns country is perfect. If there's a problem in the world, rather than root out the real cause or tread on someone else's toes, just blame America, they're use to it, and they can take it.. After all, everybody blames them for everything anyways, they keep forgetting to blame them for international staility and for the fact we aren't all German or Commies..
As for America however and since 9/11, I don't think that these developing/deleloped countries bother Uncle Sam at all. It all seems like a lot of wishful thinking that America is weakening by the anti-America crowd. Since America was attacked on it's own soil, they have implemented a lot of changes to protect themselves for a long time into the future. When it comes down to it, without full-blown nuclear war, it'll be at least another 100 years before America sees any country, their policies and international stances as any threat to it's decisions and policies at all.
To say that India, Egypt, and Brazil could influence the approach America, backed by countries and unions which combined account for at least 85% of the worlds GDP is taking in any direction is just jibber-jabber.

I'm not pro-America, I'm not even American. If anything, I'm anti-blame America for everything. I'm not siding with anybody, I'm just fed up with listening to everybody dump on America because that isn't the answer to every problem in the world.

Lets face it.
Since Bush has done such a brilliant job in making the USA in his first term so unpopular in the rest of the world. We have no one else to blame for giving him the white hose a second term. we deserve to be the most hated country in the world for the complacency we show by electing our government.
ACTA is a idea from the USA and pushed with enormous effort and pressure by the USA. Lets face it we the biggest lobby in the world the voter has stopped looking who pays our politicians and are happy that the lobbyist of the few dictate to the rest of us what is good for us. If it is health care or education.
We fail as a nation of Voters. We allow the politicians to make such agreements like ACTA because we are to lazy to think what we vote or don't even vote at all.
I go so far as to say not one politician in the entire USA deserves the position they have been voted into and in all honesty I predict that in the upcoming California elections the people will get exactly what they deserve. A politician who's election has been bought by a rich beneficiary who will call in his favors. Don't be surprised if the world gets raped by greed it is your own complacency and the believe in TV commercials that has earned us the first place as the " MOST HATED COUNTRY IN THE WORLD. " We deserve it. we have brought this despicable people into power. Every democracy has the politicians it deserves. So we the people obviously deserve the hate as we have empowered the ones that made us hated and the worst of it is. WE WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO !!!
