µTorrent introduces its users a new feature – they now can control their downloads from any computer or even iPhone, using web browser.
Project Falcon has been launched by BitTorrent Inc. at the beginning of this year. The project is actually a new version of software offering both on-demand streaming and a new secure web access service called µTorrent Web. The latter makes you able to control your torrents remotely. Today, trying to make its services more accessible, µTorrent is introducing its feature µTorrent Web for the iPhone.
Simon Morris, VP of Product Management for BitTorrent believes that in the modern ever-connected world, downloaders would opt for the possibility to control their downloads from any place and at any time. That’s why BitTorrent decided to introduce µTorrent Web service for iPhone, thus making its products more accessible. At the moment µTorrent Web can only be used as a part of company’s experimental software Project Falcon, but they keep filling out this service set prior to a global-scale rollout. Still, using the current introduction, downloaders are now able to control their torrents remotely from any PC or iPhone through their web browser.
The feature is quite easy to use. To begin, downloaders first have to install the application and enable there an option of µTorrent Web remote access. The next step is to connect to http://web.µTorrent.com and finish the process by entering the chosen username and password, following the website’s prompts.
Simon Morris explains that, in fact, µTorrent Web for iPhone is just a mobile version of the website which provides users the ability to distantly access and control their BitTorrent client installed on their PC. However, he warns the downloaders that they should ensure to use the latest version of µTorrent client from Project Falcon on their PCs, in order to be able to employ µTorrent Web for iPhone on users’ iPhones. The application and detailed instruction describing how to download the program and configure remote access can be found on the µTorrent official website.
This new offering from µTorrent indicates another important move forward, because it makes an effort to make the software more useful by giving users a chance to control their torrents anytime and anywhere.
