According to the reports from representatives of trade group BSA (Business Software Alliance) and technology giant Adobe Systems, the UAE is at the foreground of fighting software piracy in the whole region.Prior to a roundtable presentation of the results of an independent research covering 8 Arab countries trying to implement corporate techniques against software piracy, the representatives announced that both establishments are working in cooperation with the country’s government in order to manage or even eliminate this threat.
License Compliance Manager for Adobe admitted that anti-piracy have always been their specific focus for many issues, while the company’s objectives are to help and educate the consumers to use only legal programs and offer them the best they can have. He also quoted the last-year IDC’s (International Data Corporation) report, revealing that the UAE may boast the lowest rate of piracy, mainly because of the strong government aid facilitating the support of the entire economy and community. The same study showed that the country has the lowest piracy rate in the whole Middle East.
As it has one of the strongest copyright legislations in the world (being the only Arab country among the top 25 of those with Intellectual Property Rights), the UAE has become a kind of a hub in the Middle East for information technology. BSA’s members point out that there, in the UAE, they’ve got a great example, they are a model and at the same time they lead by example. It results in the fact that majority of IT firms are keen on setting up business there in the UAE.
However, even when the UAE is moving in the right direction, there’re still lots of things to do. For example, piracy tends to raise losses in the information technology sector, thus giving undue benefit to those who are into it. Since the IT is a main contributor to the economy, piracy tends to affect it as a whole. That’s why a list of initiatives are still being undertaken in the country in order to increase awareness of the community on piracy, including Press conferences, school visits, advertisements and PR releases on different media. The message Adobe and BSA want to deliver is clear: Buy originals to fight piracy. They hold up as a model companies violating the law – they are proved to affect their own reputation, while those operating legally are doing great.
Seems like pirates will soon or late be forced to stop in the UAE.

|naaah, it is impossible to stop software piracy in the arab world, and if anybody says yes it is possible then i am going to laugh at them silly. |
i am an arab and i know what is like, and besides software is expensive in the arab world and peolpe cannot afford it particularly in all of africa,
adobe software company are totally out of their minds, african people cannot afford their software, so they pirate it instead of buying it,
example. in north africa a person work all day from 7am to 6pm, for $10 only, all day long, it is not a typo it is $10 dollars all day under hot sun.
so talking about stopping piracy in arab countries it will never happen in such corrupt countries, from big guys to little guys every body takes RACHWA ( a bribe )
