The trailer of forthcoming “Expendables” movie, recently produced by the fans, that was exhorting “true” men to go and watch the film “in a f*cking theater” but not “off your torrents”, finally was shutdown due to a DMCA request initiated by the Motion Pictures Association of America.
According to the recent news, the fans of the star-studded action movie “The Expendables” (the cast including Mickey Rourke, Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jet Li and Bruce Willis) had created a movie trailer issuing a call to arms for “real” men to regain the theaters back from the films for teenage girls, like “Sex in the City,” “Twilight,” with, for some reason, special attention given to Julia Robert’s new “Eat, Pray, Love” movie.
The trailer told those men staying at home and doing their job that by refusing to go to the theaters and switching to downloading movies off the torrents they are literally handing the keys from Hollywood to the teenage girls.
However, it was actually expected that the creators of the video won’t get away with this direct declaration of war to the girls. It was really a bold step, but not a very wise one, as the teenage girls could appear smart enough to respond with a blow. It’s not clear whether the initiator of the shutdown was a man or a woman, but she or he definitely favors Julia Roberts and the fair sex to win the battle the guys have started.
It was announced just several days after the trailer’s appearance that it has fallen a victim to a DMCA shutdown request initiated by the Motion Pictures Association of America. The spokesperson for the MPAA says that it doesn’t normally get involved in this kind of things, but this case is outstanding. The matter is in a shot in the beginning of a video, making it look like an ordinary trailer – you all remember the customer green screen appearing at the start, containing the phrase “the following preview has been approved by the MPAA.” Thus the trailer was suggested to be submitted for approval by the MPAA’s advertising review board, and the video creators didn’t take care of that.
The fact that the video advocated men to go see the movie legally, calling them not to infringe the copyright, didn’t help. Seems like profanity-laced videos are not welcomed in Hollywood, but chic-flics are.

|So much for "free" advertising..|
I wonder if it was just the MPAA that that got their panties in an uproar; or did anyone from the movies producer's bitch and then the MPAA started foaming like the rabid dog it is?
If there was no complaint from the movies producers;what the hell does an organization - NOT EVEN THE MOVIES PRODUCERS take action when the MPAA is not even the COPYRIGHT HOLDER OF THE MOVIE; or have I missed something.
The last I knew the MPAA it self has never ever made any movies?
When the MPA or EVEN THE RIAA files a DCMA on a users ISP; does that letter also include the "Copyright" Holder has made a complaint tot the MPAA or the RIAA that their "copyrighted" works "copyrights" are being violated? Or is the MPAA and/or the RIAA seeing a "file" on a torrent shoot off a violation letter?
I would try and get the answer from the movies producers and see what they say..
|There's dumb and then there's DUMBER (great movie lol)These guys were doing part of the MPAA's work for them. They want people to go to the movies instead of downloading right? So why shut these guys down? They could have just asked them to modify it, remove the intro, but no they have to act all tuff and stuff. But it seems to me like it's not certain this shutdown has anything to do with teenage girls retaliating. Could just be a dumb move of the MPAA itself.|
|SaM, there's a HUGE amount of irony in this article. Why are the members of this site allowed to (potentially) break federal laws yet are punished for using profanity (even in a constructive way) which in most countries is not regarded as a criminal act. In fact, in Australia, swearing comes under legislation called the Summary Offences Act 1988, which describes "any act that a reasonable person might consider offensive" is an offence in the law. It's up to the police officers discretion whether to issue a fine or not. The point being: police don't HAVE to abide by the code of the law to hand out fines for swearing unless they make the decision to do so.|
Maybe it's time for a change to allow reasonable expression on ET and stop the automatic petty, puerile slaps for this exceedingly minor infringement? I'm sure that no-one would be mightily offended by any occasional vulgarity they might encounter while browsing for their latest torrents or torrent news.

|@menahunie - I think you should re-read my post. I am not OPPOSED to swearing. I am in fact ADVOCATING it as a freedom of expression. If you read my post again you will see that swearing in "AuzzieLand" is not a crime, felony or even a misdemeanour. Slow down, calm down and reply like a mature adult in future.||
