The filmmakers announced a release of the last series of the clips from the “TPB: AFK” (“The Pirate Bay: Away From Keyboard”) that has been released periodically within this month.
It has been reported several times throughout September that a couple of Swedish moviemakers are continuing their work on a documentary about the world’s largest BitTorrent tracker website The Pirate Bay.
The movie has got a name “The Pirate Bay: Away From Keyboard”, telling the world the story of the three co-owners of the most popular BitTorrent tracker in the world, spending years of their lives to fight with rights owners. The story featured in the film culminates in the co-founders’ conviction for the facilitation of copyright violation last year. However, the final decision has actually yet to be defined during the ongoing hearing at the Svea Court of Appeals, which is expected to last until the middle of October.
Now the third, a final one, episode is released by the moviemakers, completing the series of three clips from “The Pirate Bay: Away From Keyboard”, that were scheduled to be released in September.
“The Pirate Bay: Away From Keyboard” took the filmmakers two years to make, and represents a documentary devoted to three guys, three computer addicts who managed to revolutionize the very idea of media distribution using just their homepage that they designed as a hobby. The filmmakers ask and answer the questions in the series like “How those three guys – Tiamo, Brokep and Anakata – turned from hardware fanatic, eco activist and cyber libertarian to individuals who made the US government to start threatening the Sweden with trade sanctions?” In fact, “The Pirate Bay: Away From Keyboard” revealed what those guys went through on a personal level after turning into the Hollywood’s most hated pirates.
“The Pirate Bay: Away From Keyboard” wasn’t just a fan film about the BitTorrent tracker. However, it isn’t a journalistic view on a conflict between the rights holders and The Pirate Bay co-founders either. The series is just an observational movie telling us about the friends creating a hobby homepage which caused a worldwide political movement. The entire film is expected to be released after the ongoing trial is over, which is scheduled to end in the middle of October.
Lots of people are looking forward to watching this documentary, as it should be a wonderful film.
