Porn Industry Launched Mass Lawsuit Against 17,000 Users

Today AdultCopyrightCompany has filed another copyright violation complaint against almost 10,000 BitTorrent users, making it the largest mass lawsuit ever. With this complaint, the number of accused reached 17,000 and keeps growing.

logo1-200x133.jpg

If you think it’s still the music industry which makes it into history with their ill “sue-em-all” litigation campaign, you are wrong. The efforts of the music industry are becoming pale when compared to the exploits of the porn industry, where AdultCopyrightCompany is targeting alleged file-sharers by the thousands, not hundreds.

Now, the AdultCopyrightCompany files a legal complaint on behalf of West Coast Productions. 17,000 people are now accused of copyright infringement in its largest mass litigation campaign, and it keeps counting: 10,000 people were alleged today, plus 7,000 targeted two weeks ago. This makes it the most aggressive anti-file-sharing campaign ever, close to the 18,000 the Recording Industry Association of America targeted. However, it’s worth noting that the music industry did that over the course of five years, while porn industry only needed two weeks.

The AdultCopyrightCompany informs everyone on its site that they should check with your family members and visitors before disputing the download and suggests to settle, because the more effort the company expends on naming those accused individually in a lawsuit, the more it expects to recover.

Actually, the first lawsuit, launched against the 7,000 file-sharers, occurred just a couple days after an event called the “Content Protection Retreat”, where some porn studios gathered to co-ordinate their efforts in figuring out how to fight the increasing piracy that put adult industry at great risk. The aim of the event was to develop a strategy allowing them to reduce the piracy of porn material by 2012. Now, it seems like the effort of the AdultCopyrightCompany is a part of that strategy.

Unfortunately, their strategy is the same as that of the music industry. The result is not difficult to predict – the industry might manage to extract settlements from thousands of individuals, but finally the technology will prevail, as usual. Even if the industry managed to prevent unauthorized file-sharing of copyrighted material, there’re still websites streaming the same content.

menahunie avatarI wonder if the RIAA has asked them if they have any openings on the Dik Squad. Maybe they can get Dick Traci to find the "alleged" violators and ram their demands home..

No avatar1. Porn is VERY popular!
2. Some VERY STINKING RICH Porn sites want Porn to be PAY ONLY. Nuff said!

I don't know how many times it has to be stated. Firstly, musicians make 95% of their money from Live Gigs. Actors in smash hit films get OBSCENELY RICH. Mostly out of Box Office takings. MOST of the distributing companies profits go to their shareholders. MOST of the distributing companies profits come from diversification outside of the film or music industry. Music Cds and Film or Music DVDs are overpriced by a factor of about FIVE TIMES or MORE what we should have to pay for them. MOST illegal downloads are by people who in any case CAN'T afford to buy them. The copyright infringement concerns are therefore TARGETTING THE DOWN AND OUT, and trying to preserve the exclusitivity of the 'club' of people who have money. Finally, most of Africa for example would not have been able to listen to ANY Beatles tracks but for P2P. So the message basically to these legal actions from some of the world's richest companies is GET LOST!!!!!!!

SaveIt4later avatarIf you walked into a restaurant, ordered some food, ate it and walked out without paying for it. Would you expect the owner to call the cops?

D4T4 avatarIf I walked into a restaurant ate my food and it was crap. I would complain to the manager and expect not to pay for it. Try doing that at the cinema SaveIt4later after watching some of the crap that this industry churns out, then get back to us with the outcome please. Just don't have your hopes too high.

No avatar@Saveit4later, why would you call the cops if that food was made at no expense to the cook and was made as a free copy, in other words you are taking nothing away from the cook it is a copy.

menahunie avatarmushasurdeep - Nope; but I have two big hairy ones with 30lbs swinging meat. Now if you care to get off your knees..

SaveIt4later - we are not talking about restaurants and comparing a digital file to a meal is apples and oranges..
But since you brought it up; a restaurant not McD's have you eat the food then pay; but if the food is really bad you inform the management with a VALID complaint. No how about a world where we could listen to music and watch a movie and pay after listening or watching? Would you then pay for crap? I wouldn't. I also wouldn't watch the movie to the end and declared it crap and not pay - won't work and it wouldn't be fare either. Now if about 5-10 minutes into the movie it is crap I then walk out different story; same for the music.

I did infact go to a restaurant took one bit out of my order and it was Sh&&... I called the waiter over politely and asked for the manager; they came and I told them what was happening POLITELY. I showed him my order and told them they can try it since I had not again used my utensil for another bit. They declined. I got a refund and I did infact order soemthing else; hey two time in a row somethings up.. Second order was fine..

jerry000 avatar".........., but finally the technology will prevail, as usual." torrent sharing is spreading all around the world at a lightning speed.due to this astonishing technology, majority can benefit.so think this as a positive thing..always democracy is majority.we are living in a democratic world.so no one can stop the majority.they can file lawsuits for tens of thousands but not for tens of millions all around the free world....!!

Nodurxshn avatarIf i wouldnt pay for something in the first place and i get it for "free" then how is that stealing ..just because i find out after i watched the movie, played the game, heard the music or used the program that its garbage and i would want my money back why does it have to be too bad for me piracy holds companies liable for producing crap plain and simple ..and if it is good i tell people its good and maybe they go pay to see it, play it, hear it, try it ..word of mouth advertising is still king..you know what maybe these companies should be paying me to pirate there materials right...RIGHT?

True indeed, I was thinking the same thing. Besides nowadays the amateur stuff is usually much better than anything the studio's bring out and you wont (likely) get sued for sharing that..

menahunie avatarJust my nickel ( inflation) is everything we are going to watch, hear, play with is going to be a pay per view, etc..
The kick in the head is we all have been told to sign up for this and that - NetFlix, etc.
Now when we use a service like that - broadband; we are now labeled "abusers" hogging all the bandwidth. Be it TV, Computer or Cell Phone.
The corporations that provide these services have over sold the networks and refused to plow their "profits" into upgrading the infrastructure and blame you and I for their data cap problems.
These corporation have made TRILLIONS of Dollars in profits and are now placing "data caps" and " bandwidth" restrictions on us their clients in the bogus claim they have to make things fairer for everybody? Fairer for who? NOT US..
The real truth is you ans I the "public" isn't the one's clogging the bandwidth; it is the corporations themselves with all their networking over the internet..
An example. You are constantly told to cut back on electricity during "peak" hours?
Thing is during daylight hours the biggest users of electricity isn't you or I but in fact businesses...
Steel mills, factories, mega-malls, etc.. Not your little ol house sucking up all those giga watts of power.

SaveIt4later avatarMy point is the restaurant cooked the food..and you ate it. But yet you feel as if you should not pay for it so you walk out and don't pay for it. It's the same thing with torrents. Don't expect there to not be consequences from downloading copyrighted material. People like menahunie whine all the time about this stuff. As if people should not be held accountable for their actions. It's as if walking into any Wal-Mart. Menahunie thinks if she walks out of Wal-Mart without paying for something, that Wal-Mart should leave her alone. She thinks Wal-Mart makes enough money. That's my point. Don't try to justify what we all do, as legal.

zowie avatarThe way I see it, all the people that are jumping up and down about Copyrights have had it so good for so long, Safe in the knowing
that what they sold, ( Records and Audio Tapes 8 and 16 Mill Films) could not be copped or Duplicated, with great success by the masses, sold us crap and made Billions from it. Times have changed, and they DIDN,T, they thought things would go along as before, the Gravy Train has Pulled into the Station of Technology, and They are Very Upset. And what did they do they came up with ( Copyright Laws ) I wonder what happened when the First man invented the Broom or a Chair or the Knife or Fork, Did he yell out , Send that man to Jail, He copped my Fork......and how many Forks are there in the World today. Move over Bill Gates I know Someone that has More Money than You....That is What I Think Of Copyrights....PS....Remember The Old Saying " You can't Have The Cake And Eat It Too " Well Now You Can and It Is Called Digital Information.

SaveIt4later avataryes Zowie the owner would call the cops, not for the photo of the food. but because you walked out without paying for it.
Zowie, you mised my entire point. The point I am trying to make is. Just because technology has advanced and we can dl movies, music, and software for free. Don't expect the owners of the work to not try and get paid from it, by you. When we read these articles about copyright owners going after people for dl's. People such as yourself, are shocked at the audacity of them to do so.

no wonder people copy and pirate, there is nothing out there worth buying.
