New version of the popular BitTorrent client includes such features as setting separate download locations for different torrents, also improved privacy settings, and dock icon badging.
Today BitTorrent Inc. has released a new Mac beta version, which contains several key new features and improvements. The first ?Torrent Mac beta version was released more than 2 years ago, and was followed by the next stable version in July 2010.
Brett Nishi, Product Director at the company announced that a few improvements in the new version are the result of top requests from the users themselves. Such opportunity was offered to them through the company’s “Idea Bank”. Actually, that was exactly what the initial purpose of the “Idea Bank” project was – BitTorrent Inc. is taking its users’ valuable feedback and using it to improve the digital products. In result, everyone is happy – the company knows the way it needs to enhance, while the users are enjoying even better ?Torrent Mac experience.
New Mac beta version of ?Torrent includes the following features and improvements:
1. Option “Add torrent dialog with save settings and file selection”.
This feature brings up a new dialog at the moment when a new torrent is added through upload or URL. The dialog allows a user to select an individual download location for each torrent and also choose what files they want to download.
2. Option “Growl support”.
Now Mac version supports the well-known Growl notification system. You are able to configure notifications to be sent upon completion of downloads or seeding, or when a torrent has been added automatically.
3. Option “Dock icon badging”.
From now the dock icon is able to show real-time speed information, both upload and download.
4. Option “Move torrent save location”.
This wasn’t supported with an earlier version either. Now, when you right click on a torrent, follow to advanced and select a new save location, all the relevant files are moved to a new selected location. The process of download is not interrupted.
The features described above are not the only ones that a new version offers. Besides, ?Torrent Mac beta provides https support, advanced privacy settings, fixed seeding ratio limits, and many more changes and enhancements.
