The countries developed an agreement on stronger, pan-European data privacy laws, as a result of 6 months of negotiations between the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union
Twitter Users Were Attacked by State-Sponsored Hackers (Maybe)
The microblogging service has warned some of its users that they may have been targeted by a state-sponsored attack. The notifications were sent to more than 20 users, all containing the same details and sounding as a precaution.
Anonymous Hacked Paris Climate Summit
It became known that hacktivists have leaked the private login details of around 1,500 officials at the UN climate talks in France, thus expressing their protest against arrests of activists in Paris. Indeed, Anonymous hacked the website of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change that arranged the summit. After breaching into the system, the hackers made names, phone numbers, usernames, email addresses, and secret questions and answers publicly available at an anonymous publishing website.
Protesters Hacked Japanese Government’s Website
Hackers have claimed to have taken offline the website of the Japanese prime minister in protest at Japan’s decision to resume its whaling program in the Southern ocean. The claim was tweeted and accompanied by a screenshot showing that connections to the website were not working. However, the website went back online soon. The government’s spokesman acknowledged that the website had been taken down for a while.
Largest Torrent Website in Denmark Voluntarily Shuts Down
NextGen, one of the country's largest websites, announced its closure in order to protect all of its users. The torrent site had been in operation for over 4 years, offering various content including the latest films and TV shows. The private tracker NextGen was the 225th most-visited site in Denmark. However, for reasons the operators didn’t reveal the site has closed its doors.
Facebook Was Asked to Stop EU to US Data Transfer
Max Schrems, now the well-known Austrian privacy campaigner, continues to demand that three European states stop Facebook from transferring data of the EU citizens to the United States. Schrems became known when he was a student – for successfully initiating a privacy campaign and prompting the ECJ to invalidate the Safe Harbour agreement. Now he is trying to force through the consequences of that court decision.
EFF Accused Google of Spying on Students
The US privacy campaigner has accused the search giant of spying on students and sent a complaint to the Federal Trade Commission, claiming that Google tracks and mines records of all websites, searches, results and videos that students watch. According to the EFF, Google publicly promised not to mine students’ browsing data and other information, but it does – and does so for the its own purposes. This complaint was filed as part of the group’s “Spying on Students” campaign, which also provides research into the privacy risks of using electronic devices and services.

GhostSec, one of the Anonymous splinter groups, has escalated its “war” on Isis to the darknet and replaced Isis propaganda site with an advert for Prozac in an obviousely trolling move. The targeted website was a fresh forum set up within the Tor darknet by Isis. The suggestions are that the portal was launched in response to Anonymous taking down hundreds of the terrorist group’s websites on the open Internet
