The Return Of The Nemesis & Genesis Trackers
In the last year, the torrent world has seen the plummet and meltdown of many of the world's largest torrent trackers. As we all know, in 2009 we witnessed the largest of all, The Pirate Bay, reach it's final climax, and eventually decay into non-existance. During this period, we've seen the rise of a new breed of trackers step up to the plate as replacements and not just alternatives. The "1337x" trackers, which were shut down temporarily due to outside pressures from BREIN, has just risen from the ashes to display that file sharing cannot die.
µTorrent Introduces "µTP" Reforming BitTorrent
The BitTorrent protocol has long had it's voids filled with various torrent clients, such as the official BitTorrent, µTorrent, vuze, bitcomet, and many others. Now the world's most popular torrent client, uTorrent, is about to implement uTorrent 2.0, which is promised to destroy the reaction that causes ISP's to throttle or stop BitTorrent traffic, as so many currently do.
The Pirate Bay Re-Re-Selling?
Once again the infamous Swedish torrent tracking and index giant, The Pirate Bay, is looking for new buyers to take over complete control of the site. After the fallout and media fiasco surrounding the proposed sale of the torrent index to Global Gaming Factory X fell through, it appears they still want to sell their exclusively hated-by-Hollywood tracker.
EU Parliament Grants "OK" To Disconnect File Sharers
As if CCTV, and the breakdowns of European freedom wasn't enough, the mediocracy of the EU file sharing legislation has just become another blow to the rights of those whom live in any EU controlled nation. Amendment 138 has been canned and now replaced with a weaker piece of legislation, which is an obvious lobbying effort to enforce the infamous "three strikes" laws to all EU sponsored countries.
U.S. Senator Pushes To Block FCC "Net Neutrality" Ruling
In a surprising twist from an unexpected Senator, Unites States Senator and former Presidential Candidate John McCain has introduced a bill into the U.S. Senate that would block the proposal from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), that would enforce mandates upon Internet Service Providers that state that it would be forced to prevent users from transmitting unlawful digital media or data over the internet. The proposal not only consists of new regulations and control over what is or could be shared online, but is set to allow the "throttling" of speed that a customer could receive if suspected of using certain protocols or means of file sharing.
Pirate Bay Ordered To Delete Torrents
Friday a judgment was handed down in the infamous and seemingly never ending Pirate Bay "spec-trial" in which an Amsterdam courtroom has decided that The Pirate Bay must remove all links to copyrighted material, and close access to all Dutch users within three months. The court has said if TPB fails to comply with their judicial hammering, then they can face a fine up to $5,000,000 (million) total and up to an additional five to ten thousand dollars for each day that the torrents are still active and available for your viewing pleasure on their site.
MPAA Anti Piracy Group Sees Day In Court
A man from the depths of Omaha, Nebraska, has recently been entangled in a long standing battle against the Motion Picture Association of America. William C. Delhoytes, a 39 year old former independent film director, and writer, was charged by the MPAA outfit for distributing his material via the BitTorrent Protocol online, which the Sundance Film Festival, with direct funding from Universal Studios, claimed to have rights to.
UK ISP Protests "3-Strikes" Legislation With Firm Evidence
In recent months we've reported constantly about the ever disputed "3-Strikes" legislation in the UK, and the disastrous audacity of the bill. Many have protested this piece of legislation calling it outright ridiculous, unfair, and biased toward the bittorrent protocol. Now, an internet service provider, Talk Talk, has come out with strong evidence further proving why this bill is not going to work, and will be unfair to many of it's customers as well as the entire networks of the United Kingdom.
French Presidential Staff Bootlegged More Than 400 Copies Of A New Documentary
In France, the French leadership as of late has barricaded itself onto the side of anti-piracy, with tough new regulations against file sharers in the controversial "three strikes" bill, as well as the developing strategy internally to commit it's finances to shut down those whom engages in "malicious" downloading. Ironically, the same cabinet in power, as a result of the "Presidential Audio Services" (Service audiovisual de la présidence de la République), has now proven to have at least 400 unauthorized copies of a new documentary entitled: "A visage découvert : Nicolas Sarkozy".
BREIN: Anti-P2P or Agents Of Propaganda?
BREIN, Bescherming Rechten Entertainment Industrie Nederland, or translated into the best possible English, Protection [of the] Rights [of the] Entertainment Industry [of the] Netherlands, has been a major force of anti-piracy in the last decade. They have been embroiled in the decimation of torrent site, peer to peer networks, and the applications that are used for p2p, and in many if not most cases, they have been victorious. Only as of late though, have questions regarding the morals and ethics of this organization, have arisen. Let's take a closer look at the outfit of anti peer to peer, known as BREIN.
