Big_A’s Guide to Uploading a torrent file on Extratorrent

Firstly before even thinking about uploading a torrent onto Extratorrent you need to
read both the site upload rules,

Extratorrent Site Members RULES

I Need More of My Torrents to be Verified

As often we end up deleting many torrents that break the rules, most commonly the Freeware/Password/
Trailers/tracker rules, so no real point in wasting both your time, just because you didn’t spend 5
minutes reading something.

1 – Tools you will need to use for this guide

All are free and very easy to use.

DVDshrink/VLC Player/Handbrake/Mediainfo/Subrip/Subtitle Edit/Utorrent (or similar torrent client)

DVDShrink

VLC Player

Handbrake

Mediainfo

Subrip

2 - Ripping video files from DVD

Firstly buy/rent or borrow a DVD, though please don’t steal the DVD that’s bad!
Insert it into your computers CD/DVD tray, and then open DVDshrink

3 – Encoding

For this I prefer to use a handy easy to use(has to be for me!!) app called Handbrake.

Once the subtitles are 100% checked it’s time to see if they work OK alongside the movie file.
Create a new folder to put the movie and subtitle file into. Here I would suggest giving the
new folder the name that you want the completed file to be called, in this case it’s the movies
name, the source(DVD)and dual audio, as it has both Japanese and English audio tracks
- Space Amoeba DualAudio DVDrip {Big_A_Little_A}

Now put both the movie file and subtitle file into the folder and rename both of them the same
as the folder. The subtitles and movie need to have the same name to ensure the subtitles work
fine.

Here the subtitles are perfectly in synch with the audio Track,

but let’s say they were not and were out of synch, Play the movie and subtitles in
VLC player, here the subtitles are slightly behind the audio, and are starting after
the speaking has started

Now open Subtitle Edit

5-Movie Info

OK now we are on the final part of getting our movie prepped and ready for upload.

What we need to do now is gather the Movie information(Plot/Cast/whatever else you want)
and the Mediainfo(the technical stuff) and the screenshots(the pretty pictures) I have a
set template that I use (it’s a notepad .txt file renamed as a .nfo extension, easier to
read and use than a plain text file), and only need to make minor changes to it from movie
to movie. It’s up to you on how you do this bit and the amount of info you put in but I
find the more good info you put into your upload, the more likely it will get downloads.
My best suggestion is to have a look at what other uploaders are doing and either choose
something you like or take bits from a few and make up your own style. For all the tech info
we just need to copy and paste from the Mediainfo file we have saved when doing the subtitles.
For the movie Info I use the following sites, for general movies.

http://www.imdb.com/ or http://www.allrovi.com/ or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiki

Or as I do more specialized Asian movies I found a few site that are good to use

http://hkmdb.com/db/index.php or http://www.filmbiz.asia/

From an internet search you can also find some good site for the genre of movies you upload.
For DVD covers sometimes I will scan in and upload my own, but being very lazy, I just do an
internet search and look in the images and normally find them easily. So here we go time to
fill in the blanks, which is mostly just a bit of copy and pasting.

Now that’s done its time to get our screen shots sorted, open the movie in VLC player. In view
ensure “Advanced Controls” is selected. And under TOOLS – Preferences – Video, set the output
to JPG for the images, smaller file size and load faster when viewing the finished upload.

And here it is

Or instead of having separate screenshots, if you want a block of screenshots, open up Thumbnailme

23373600883553264607.jpg
73733236028656813809.jpeg

Once you have your screen shots done you will need to upload them to an image hosting site, to
get the image link to enable you to upload the pictures in your torrent description. Here’s a
few to look at,

http://imageshack.us/ or http://www.imagebam.com or http://imgbox.com

More available just do a quick internet search. A lot of these sites though they are free you
will need to register, normally just with a user name and email address. For this example I
will use one of the sites I normally use, Shotpix.

Edit - Since making this tutorial, shotpix closed down, but may similar image hosing site work in the same way, When time I will update old shotpix images to images of my new image host

And one last item we need to add into our upload, the Torrent downloaded from ExtraTorrent.com.txt

Extratorrent Download Text

Now just make sure you’re happy with everything and you have all the files you want in the final
folder

6 – Creating/Seeding your Torrent

Now that’s all the hard work done and everything prepped; now it’s time to create our .torrent file
extension. For this I use Utorrent (but just use the client you are use to or prefer).

fz8u.jpg

pacd.jpg

One important thing I meant to say is that when the .torrent file has been created and the data is
loaded into your torrent client, and seeding, you cannot move or delete the data as this will stop
the torrent from seeding, so before creating the .torrent file, it might be worth moving the data
to a separate folder you want to put uploads into. For adding trackers into your torrent client, it
is just a simple case of copy and pasting them into the trackers box.
I would suggest using either the trackers listed on the Extratorrent upload page, or have a look to
see what some of the trusted/well know uploaders are using. When adding the trackers as I said it was a case of just copy and pasting them in you do need to ensure you leave a space between the trackers, like this.

Copy and pasted from Extratorrent upload page (the wrong way to add trackers)

udp://tracker.istole.it:80/announce
http://exodus.desync.com/announce
udp://9.rarbg.com:2710/announce
udp://tracker.openbittorrent.com:80/announce
http://tracker.publicbt.com:80/announce

Copy and pasted from Extratorrent upload page (the right way to add trackers)

udp://tracker.istole.it:80/announce

http://exodus.desync.com/announce

udp://9.rarbg.com:2710/announce

udp://tracker.openbittorrent.com:80/announce

http://tracker.publicbt.com:80/announce

Now once you have created and saved the .torrent file it auto loads into the torrent client and start
seeding OK.

7 – Uploading your torrent

If you have already ignored the first step in this guide I really think you need to read the site upload rules NOW!!

Extratorrent Site Members RULES

OK the one thing I forgot to add in while we were prepping the upload was to make a cover shot to add in when you are
doing your upload, so here we go. All you need is your full DVD cover and some photo editing software. Make a copy of
your full DVD cover,

gy9.jpg

Now you need to edit it in your photo editing software, just to get them main front cover, and once cropped you need to re size it to a width of no bigger than 100 pixels and height of approx 140 pixels
