As many may have heard, ThePirateBay is under talks with corporate Global Gaming Factory X, for a purchase and overhaul of their site. This is making headlines across the p2p community, and in fact, may be a devastating blow to most index sites, and of course, the fallout will be seen for many months if not years to come. The Pirate Bay has always been an icon of the file sharing war, a front in which freedom of speech, file sharing, and pirate movements globally can be attributed to. Personally, as a long time p2p user, and torrent lover, I hate to see this happen. TPB was the motivation for so many, with their "Fuck The World" attitude, and untouchable ego, they gained so much respect and love. They vowed to NEVER give up the good fight, to fight to the end. Recently, shockingly, we have all learned that this "fight" is soon to come to a halt. TPB tracks 2/3's of the world's torrents. They are infamous within and without the torrent world. This battle of battles the staff their has waged, seem so admirable, and so motivating, many never thought this would happen, myself included. If their trackers die off, then half the world's torrents INSTANTLY DIE. Instantly. This is a sad, sad day for the torrent world. Which leads me to my next question, should ET begin to use it's own trackers? I think so. It's time we stepped up as the front runner in this new supremacy battle that is inevitable. Truly, ET is the place to be. Many, SO MANY, of our torrents will begin to no longer have correct stats, if these TPB trackers are killed. This is very sad. It shows we can no longer sit back and run off of other trackers. For many months now, I have been using the http://genesis.1337x.org:1337/announce trackers on all my uploads, as so many new trackers have failed, this 1337x group of trackers, has vowed to never end, at least not anytime soon. I suggest all uploaders halt using the TPB trackers, until we find out the true fate of TBP. Seems pointless to use trackers that will no longer exist in a month. The future of the torrent world and of ET depend entirely on new trackers, under the current climate. I believe (and I am trying to persuade) the ET staff, that new trackers for ET are not just highly sought, but highly necessary. I would like to know what others feel about this. Do you think ET needs its own trackers? I personally do not have the funds to do this, as the economy has hit us all, and if I did, I could not guarantee that this would last inevitably. ET needs its own trackers!!! Let me know how you all feel about this.
| YES YES YES, THAT BE SO COOL | |

With the pending $7.7 million sale to Global Gaming Factory X AB, the site will go legitimate as did Napster? meaning the world?s most notorious BitTorrent tracker will not longer point the way to free downloads of copyrighted music, movies, software and games. The myth is over that the Pirate Bay would carry on as an underground site, even if its co-founders lost their appeals and went to prison for a year.
The Pirate Bay, in short, is heading to Davy Jones? Locker
meaning no real good idiea to use it anymore so dont use it for upload ect sicne yeah you know
| Posted: Fri Jul 03, 2009 20:30 Author: Indeed it would be very silly to use TPB trackers anymore, seeing as they will all cease to exist soon. Use genesis, unless we can get our own trackers (which is what we need) | |
| Posted: Mon Jul 13, 2009 17:02 Author: Yep if we want to stay up there with the best we need our own trackers so admin if your reading this get your
arse into gear my friend ....Who knows what the third party tracker gonna be????lots of ppl be very wary and i think
the community will grow here as it has been steadily as more and more ppl from piratebay ask for there accounts
to be terminated. So yes i say lets do now rather than at last minute.........
| Posted: Mon Jul 13, 2009 20:57 Author: It's simple, the next place they go will have a tracker, you can see all the uploaders I've encouraged to come here, along w/ famous encoders? The first thing they all ask me is this, "Do you have your own trackers at ET?" and sadly, I must whisper back "No." This is very important I think if we ever want to be considered as a site that is not a "dump" site and to de-throne the big dogs in the business, so we're @ number nine now, well that may not be so true after TPB loses its trackers, and they spread to where the trackers are, I truly believe that, and I love ET, and want it to be the ONLY place peeps need to be... but w/o trackers, I for one see why they wouldn't only come here. I use trackers of other sites, and all our uploaders do, in our "featured torrents", please realize admin that this is just free advertising for their sites!!! LoL. See I'm really really really pushing for this lol. I understand either way you decide, but you can see many others agree, and oh so many others who haven't posted here. | |
