aXXo... The Man, The Myth, The Legend

* What has happened to the once most (in)famous encoder to step into the world of p2p? Many attempt to be him, and even more, want to be LIKE him. This man is considered legendary in the world of torrents, and for a time, was the dominate star in p2p.

* Say what you will, scene stealer, over achiever, egotistical self righteous asshole, the one known only as aXXo still dominates torrent searches globally. He has achieved a status that only few will ever reach, that, of a legend. aXXo is also considered the number one target of p2p anti-piracy, with his tag being used globally to scoure out and hunt down those who would use p2p for "illegal" activities. Some know his home, darksideRG, have not seen postings from him for months... Yet he is still active, and logs into his accounts regularly. The guy single handedly changed the way most torrent sites operate, stating that, "Be aware of bogus sites and lamers, download your aXXo files from aXXo accounts. Enjoy!", and ever since his rise, many do not allow the tag of aXXo to be uploaded, as a general rule. Extra Torrent also follows this guideline.

* How can one single encoder, a one man army if you will, change the way torrent sites and portals operate? Well, it began with an early rise to quick releases, 700mb single CD releases, that could be playable on almost all standalone DivX devices, and 99.9% of PC's with a CD ROM. The one and only, has seemingly stepped into the shadows, and many have attempted to replace him. Bogus sites, such as http://speed.cd have claimed him to be a moderator/uploader on their site, but in fact, as the REAL aXXo has posted at darkside, this is merely that, an imposter. Some have questioned "Why aXXo why?", and others, respect what he has done, and understand that "everyone needs a break", especially in his sense, where it is rumored the Federal Bureau of Investigation is just waiting for him to reach 18 in order to take him down.

* The history of aXXo is applauded by many, with him battling The Pirate Bay, in his early years, over harassment threats from MPAA/Anti-Piracy comments being left on his torrents, in order to deter the "n00bs" from downloading his materials... and in the end, the utter disrespect for aXXo from the founders of TPB, resulted in him removing all his uploads from the popular torrent tracker, and leaving there for good. aXXo has reappeared on other trackers, most famously, MiniNova, where he began to spread his work again. Up until recently many have thought him to be long dead, as his name, "aXXo" is the most searched upon single noun in the history of torrent searches.

* Is he gone for good? No, he is not... Will he return? We will let him decide this, and await patiently. See the torrent world, and the "fanbase" is somewhat of an addiction... when thousands if not millions of users know you by your tag, and you go site to site only to receive recognition for your "battles" for copyright freedoms, its very hard to stay away forever. You may try to go away, but you will sleep, dream, lust, and think about that world. It's a lifestyle, its a CHOSEN lifestyle. aXXo is no exception. He in fact may be the most popular encoder in modern history, and only a handful of names are even close to defeating him in quality, speed, and widespread popularity. (Noir, Lynks, etc) This "fame" that is established by the torrent world, is much to draw into ones mind, and much ado about nothing at the same time. You are now in fact a pirate, an outcast by the mainstream, but loved and adored by so many in the underground. It is not a forced appreciation, like the fame of Stalin or Hitler, it is an underdog fame, that is inevitably legendary, so many will forever remember the name, and never forget, and living with knowing that can bring even the most determined to "quit", back into the game.

* Believe me, it's not easy when temptation is extreme. I think we all know this, and aXXo, wherever you are :wink: you will be expected to return again, and if/when you do, so so so many, will be awaiting your releases. aXXo, the first encoder ever to be inducted into the hall of fame of the torrent world, will live on eternally. :mrgreen:
