Just off the top of my head I'm sure in utorrent menus somewhere I saw something about encrypting
Did a quick google (utorrent encryption) and I'm thinking you should look further into it.
Eg More and more ISP’s are limiting and throttling BitTorrent traffic on their networks. But there is a solution. Encrypting your torrents will prevent throttling ISP’s from shaping your traffic.
That was from torrent freak (cannot post URL) on first page of search results.
you are correct on both count's.
in utorrent go to options.
then go into bittorrent.
untick all boxes whit DHT on them.
Nice ta bud forgot to do that back on the old utorrent again.
then go to bottom of the page where it says protocol encryption,
change outgoing to forced and tick the box next to it,
click apply then okay.
GOB DONE your shizzles encrypted from your isp or really jumbled up for them to see.
As ISP's find it hard to track millions of downloads at once so they have started hitting all bit clients throttling the bejesus out of them iv noticed it myself sometimes
