US Vice President Joe Biden today hosted a roundtable looking at the so-called ‘Piracy Problem’. The summit was not as ‘open’ as promised a year ago in the presidential campaign though. Only copyright industry representatives were present, further reinforcing the belief that Biden sits firmly in the pocket of Big Copyright.
Copyright is an issue that affects everyone. Every word, image and expression of thought is copyrightable. It is a system of law that places restrictions on the fundamentals of civilization – communication and expression. So when it comes to policy talks involving that subject, it would seem only natural that representatives of the people of the United States are involved. Not so in the modern day world.
When it comes to copyright policy, there appears to be only one set of people the government is willing to listen to, and that’s the copyright lobbyists groups. Groups that don’t represent the creators as much as those that manage the creators; the middlemen. And so it is with the attendees of today’s meeting with US Vice President Joe Biden.
Biden, whose political career – like many US politicians – has been partly funded by pro-copyright groups, came out to say that he is offended by the “flat unadulterated theft” some call piracy. A bold statement, but not really that surprising when you take a look at the one-sided list of attendees.
There are no consumer groups, no technology companies, and few representatives of the artistic creators themselves. There are plenty of are representatives of middlemen companies though. Companies that make their money from managing, distributing and promoting, tasks that are increasingly being made obsolete with technological progress.
We’re talking about the likes of Sony’s Michael Lynton, who on behalf of an industry that’s having one of it’s best ever years, plead poverty less than two months ago. And Edgar Bronfman, head of WMG – you remember, the company that claimed copyrights that aren’t theirs.
What will have been on the agenda? Well, probably no items on how factually inaccurate the recent CBS piece was, or how anti-piracy studies would be improved with the release of supporting data. Instead, it will be the likes of future anti-piracy laws such as ACTA, and questioning the ability to introduce similar legislation to France and the UK.
Not that we will find out though, as apparently the press has been kicked out. Perhaps, like ACTA, this is a national security issue too. After all, who says terrorists don’t download Die Hard films for training purposes? |

My feelings about this directly tie into my feelings on the false "Hope" that the Obama Administration promised before elected.
Messages of change, future prospects, and a new world were all in his campaign slogans. He had crowds and most people *wooed* by his promise of a better tomorrow and a brighter America that would lead the world. People all across the world, were expecting a "new" type of American leadership, in a grave attempt to repair the world which was on the verge of crumbling.
Yet directly after being elected, he decided to keep MAJOR power players from the George W. Bush Jr. round table. U.S. Defense Secretary, Robert Gates, whom helped the Bush regime in an epic attempt to dominate and control the Middle East through the prospects of a War based upon false pretenses is not what I would call CHANGE.
"Change You Can Believe In" ~ That's what we heard. We believed. We waited. Yet nothing has changed? America struggles now as a people, in a greater manner than anytime before in history. Hardworking men and women, cannot provide for their families, due to extreme health care costs, high prices, and lack of an open career available for them to pursue.
" The American Dream " is what they called it. A promise that every man, woman, and child, in the land of the free, and the home of the brave, would be "blessed by God", as long as they were in America.
That America does not exist ladies and gentleman. It's a false ideal that was destroyed in part by greed and corruption from a certain top percentage of the ruling body, and thus has created worldwide chaos and pandemic. America put it's fingers into every major industry and dispute on the Planet Earth, and for that, it had great investments. When it crumbled, the rest of the world's economy followed pace.
This was not an over-night action. This was many years of misleading the public and getting involved in matters which had no interest to the people but only to the politicians whom we're snuggled tightly in a blanket of greed. The corporations which used their finances to reach within the government as if it were pulling out it's esophagus and tearing out it's mouth piece, and replacing it with a robotic transmitter.
During this period of corporate take over of America, many of today's elected government leaders helped push this through, as most have a strong and extended political background.
Joe Biden, is not to be excluded. Joe Biden has a nearly thirty year run in the United States Congress, and his career has been one of the ages. He has been in office during the end of the Vietnam challenge, Iranian crisis, Fall of the Soviet Union, Kuwait, Gulf Wars, Bosnia, and now, Iraq and Afghanistan.
He says that he is offended by the “flat unadulterated theft” some call piracy? I say I'm offended that he sits in office now, as the Vice President of the United States, while hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians and people are murdered, at the hands of a US Military which entered Iraq under false pretenses to go to war.
The United States seriously needs to get their shit together, before World War 3 happens, which at this pace, it seems they want.
We have fighting going on all over the world, an "ethnic" cleansing in regions of South Africa, rebel groups portraying themselves as governments in various former war torn regions of the globe, Americans dying overseas so that a few corporations can rake in billions of future investments, and people back home standing in lines waiting for their next serving of bread.
Sound familiar? It should the fall of a Babylonian Empire is written about in various Holy texts. It seems the fall of the great land is inevitable, and an emerging apocalypse will follow.
It's probably more likely that they won't pay attention to this matter though, and you'll have the Vice President speak of things that obviously he thinks is more important, such as combating internet piracy though right?
Doesn't that not just amaze you, but send you into a fury? I am for one stunned by this, and realize what it is that the Administration is actually worried about. Which is the money that the corporations whom control them, put in their pockets.
Of all the world's troubles, the fact that we are even having a Vice President of the world's ONLY military super power, speaking about internet piracy, is not such a good sign for the future.
My friends, I hope you take not of what I say. We must take control back of our governments. The people of the world must unite, and tell them that we will no longer stand for this. Their money is not keeping us warm at night, and it's not putting food on the table for our families.
We must not allow our governments to sit and watch the world crumble. Now is the time for action. You all must get involved, become active in the political scene, get others involved, work together, unite, for the greater good of man. For together we can truly solve the world's problems, and better our lives.
No false profit, no politician, no person, is going to do that for you. It's all about you, and what you can do for your country, for your people, and what you can do together. We must end corporate worldwide corruption.
I can not deal to read another story like this one, when the world is falling apart. It sickens me that these world leaders, are watching people die and suffer and sitting there doing absolutely nothing to change what goes on day to day.
The time is now.
