Change Text on XP Start Button:
Follow the steps correctly otherwise it will cause some problems.
Now you can set any sort of name instead of "START" On the Start button.
In order to make the changes, the file explorer.exe located at C:\Windows needs to be edited. Since explorer.exe is a binary file it requires a special editor. For purposes of this article I have used Resource Hacker. Resource Hacker is a freeware utility to view, modify, rename, add, delete and extract resources in 32bit Windows executables and resource files (*.res). It incorporates an internal resource script compiler and decompiler and works on Win95, Win98, WinME, WinNT, Win2000 and WinXP operating systems. Navigate here to download Resource Hacker.
Follow these steps:
Before proceeding make a new folder inside "windows" where you save your file later. Name it as you like. "
Here I used "zeeshi".
Run "Resource Hacker". If you dont have it follow this link http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/.
Now go to this key:
Now change "start" To any desired name you want. Here I changed it to "zeeshi". Now press "compile Script"
Now go to "File", "save as" and save the file in the folder you have created earlier.
Now go to "RUN". Enter "regedit" and navigate to this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows NT\ CurrentVersion\ Winlogon
Here find "shell". Double click it. Editing string opens. In Editing string "explorer.exe" is already present, add the name you choosed, before it. Like this "zeeshi/Explorer.exe". Click OK.
Its Done. Now "log of" and then "log in" to effect the changing.
Any trouble just PM me.
