A lot like nature
In the real world, each eye has its own slightly different view. The bran then puts the two pictures together to form one 3D image. 3D does the same thing, it recreates the way humans see normally.

How 3D works
The same scene is projected simultaneously from two different angles in tow different colours, red and blue (or green or cyan). The colour filters on 3D glasses separate the two images so each image enters only one eye. The brain puts the two pictures back together and the result is a 3D image. A 3D film projected in 3D and viewed minus glasses will look like it is out of focus.

The Technology

1. 3D projector alternately projects the right-eye frame & left-eye frame 144 times per second, and circularly distributes these frames, clockwise for the right eye and anti-clockwise for the left eye.

2. A screen is placed immediately in front of the projector lens to switch these frames from the left eye to the right eye and vice versa.

3. A colour wheel, placed in front of the screen, splits the image for the left and the right eye.

4. The spirit images are filtered by the coloured lenses of the glasses worn by the viewer, and the then sees a 3D image.
