I have been using BitTorrent for many years with no issue. Recently I have been getting DL speeds of 500-600kB/s (even occasionally 1MB/s) easily when DLing some files. However, a few weeks ago, for no apparent reason my DL speeds now hardly get up above 20-30kB/s. I am pretty tech-tarded and am not sure what I should be checking for to see what is affecting this. I only know I havent changed anything! It does seem that maybe I'm not connecting to many seeds, even when there are 100s of 100s in a swarm (eg GoT).
Sometimes when My computer goes to sleep, I wake it up and suddenly its going at 200kB/s, but when I wake it quickly throttles back down!
This very second I watched it go from 100kB/s straight back down to 1.
ANY clue at all would be great. I have now taken to streaming TV from CouchTuner instead!

did you check to see if you used up your monthly download allowance?
TPG,Optus,Teslta,Vodafone drop your speed to 30kB when monthly allowance is used up until the next month
Possibly run a malwarebyte scan something could be interfering with your connection .

I have unlimited internet allowance, nothing else runs slow, I can stream fine, skype etc. Its only torrents. Should I try a different torrent client?

try these settings your probably using bit torrent default settings which can make downloads slow
also limit your upload speed to around 15kb until your downloads complete then you can increase them again
if your upload rate is high your download speed will be slow

your maximum upload rate is set to 1kb
if you lower upload rate to less the 7kb bitorrent/utorrent will auto slow down your download speed

I'll change it, but it hasnt affected it in the past.
