The first thing I want to say is thanks to Extratorrent for having this great site to download from.

Here is my problem I don't mind pop up because I understand that's how Extratorrent create's revenue to keep the site running but here is my
problem why would Extratorrent ever host a pop up that is a scam and the one I'm talking about is the one that say's you may have a virus and
you need to call Microsoft and pay a fee to have the virus removed.

My problem is not with Extratorrent having pop ups on their as I said before they need the revenue to keep the site running my problem is
hosting one where you can not close the pop up unless you know how to control alt delete or just do a restart your PC.

All I'm asking is that if I understand and respect the fact that's how Extratorrent create's revenue to help keep the site up and running
please respect me the user by not hosting the pop ups that are scams, also what about someone who is new to having a PC and downloading and does
not know this is a scam.I also understand I can become a VIP but still I do not agree that that anyone should have to be worried about being scammed.

Also I'd like to ad I got the same fake virus pop up 8 times in a row after coming back to extratorrent after closing my browser,I also want to be
clear this post is not meant to give proper crap to Extrattorrent I just wanted to point this out with all do respect as I love this site and use it
the most over any other torrent site.

I Agree,
I LOVE this site & everyone here has been amazing, I even joined.
I have no issue with popups, BUT this it getting out of hand.
I should have to reboot my machine when I TRY to access a torrent.

This popup is relentless and won't stop. I can't even Alt/Ctl/Del
out of it. Can you guys make sure the pop ups aren't destructive please.
We can't be the only ones with this problem??

Thank you

I agree with everything you said and I have been using Extratorrent for 3 years if not a lot more just not sure how long I have used it
and in the last 2 to 3 months I have been getting 2 to 3 times more pop ups then ever.

You can try this program as well and it will block every single pop up,I didn't mind the pop ups before because every time a pop up pop's up
Extratorrent get money for every time you click it closed and again help's keep the site going and although I don't like pop ups I figure at
least by not using a pop up blocking program that's my way of paying it back to Extratorrent for keeping the site up and running.

Try this program just run it and your done it's Pre-activated and it blocks every pop up and banner type ad there is and works great and much
better then any other pop up blocker and adware blocking program I have ever tried.I have used this version and it is clean.

what program ffs? and to all you members reading just because someone recommends something you do not have to use it,when someone joins and instantly puts a post up recommending something so dramatically I would be wary! just be careful whos word you take for something, he just now became a member?? beware spammers come on line and become members to get people to upload software like this I would be worried about it, im not saying he is doing this just be careful what you download and who tells you to do it.also the guy who is agreeing is a new member just joining today as well be careful.

19tommy59 I can assure you I'm not a spammer,I belong to many other forums under the name wade7575 and if you google wade7575 you will see I'm
in at least 30 different forums. The only I joined the forum at Extratorrent is so I could start this thread because like anyone else out there I hate pop ups,
the thing is the normal pop ups I could care less about it the new fake av one that tries to scam you is what I hate.

Also I'm not the poster of the program I linked that is someone else who has been uploading torrents here for along time and that's not my way of saying
it's safe just pointing out a fact.

My main reason for starting this thread was to try to get the owner of this site to respond and see if he would take do the fake av pop up
as I look at it as a 2 way street in the sense if I can respect the fact I don't mind the pop ups because they are easily removed by
just doing a custom scan with Superantispyware in about 15 seconds to scan only for tracking cookies why not show me the same respect
by not hosting a pop up that is clearly a scam.

I just joined and I can see your point about everything you said and agree with you this time that's just not the case,I never joined the forum before
because in the 2 to 4 years I have been downloading from Extra I have never felt the reason to and again I already belong to enough forums
to do with other stuff and as I stated before google wade7575 and you'll see I'm not spamming on other forums.

There is nothing the matter with the site. I had a couple of issues a while ago but it was down to the proxy i was useing. are you useing the official ET proxy or an unblock proxy, also have you turned off the adds in your user settings. Either way its not ET's fault.

Adware virus popups

It's not extratorrent your Browser's probably been hijacked by an adware virus, Witch forces up pups & popups to open in your browser,, Many people are infected with adware viruses and have no idea there being hijacked etc etc
Software such as anti-virus, anti-malware, and firewalls are used to protect against ..... In some cases, it may also intercept attempts to install start-up items or to modify browser settings. ...
PUPs include spyware, adware, fraudulent dialers. and so on.....

Are u using google Chrome...?

Have u downloaded any freeware software

Have u installed any video recording/streaming or a download-managers or PDF creators....?

have you notest your getting popups on sites that u never did before....?

Check out this Google Search Links to find what u need for your computer

PUP.Optional.Spigot.

Remove PUP.Optional.Spigot.A (Virus Removal Guide )

PUP.Optional.Spigot.A is a specific detection used by Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and other antivirus products to indicate and detect a Potentially Unwanted Program.
A potentially unwanted application is a program that contains adware, installs toolbars or has other unclear objectives.
Malwarebytes PUP.Optional.Spigot.A

PUP.Optional.Spigot.A got on your computer after you have installed a freeware software (video recording/streaming, download-managers or PDF creators) that had bundled into their installation this browser hijacker. This Potentially Unwanted Program is also bundled within the custom installer on many download sites (examples: CNET, Brothersoft or Softonic), so if you have downloaded a software from these websites, chances are that PUP.Optional.Spigot.A was installed during the software setup process.

PUP.Optional.Spigot.A is an ad-supported extension for Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome, and distributed through various monetization platforms during installation. The browser extension includes various features that will modify the default or custom settings of the browser including the home page, search settings and in some cases will modify Internet Explorer’s load time threshold, place a lock file within Firefox to prevent competing software from changing its settings as well as disable the browser’s Content Security Policy in order to allow for cross site scripting of the plugin.

You should always pay attention when installing software because often, a software installer includes optional installs, such as this PUP.Optional.Spigot.A browser hijacker. Be very careful what you agree to install.
Always opt for the custom installation and deselect anything that is not familiar, especially optional software that you never wanted to download and install in the first place. It goes without saying that you should not install software that you don’t trust.

PUP.Optional.OpenCandy

Popup Virus Remover How to Remove

PUP.Optional.OpenCandy is a specific detection used by Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and other antivirus products to indicate and detect a Potentially Unwanted Program.
A potentially unwanted application is a program that contains adware, installs toolbars or has other unclear objectives.

PUP.Optional.OpenCandy it’s technically not a virus, but it does exhibit plenty of malicious traits, such as rootkit capabilities to hook deep into the operating system, browser hijacking, and in general just interfering with the user experience. The industry generally refers to it as a “PUP,” or potentially unwanted program.
The PUP.Optional.OpenCandy infection is used to boost advertising revenue, as in the use of blackhat SEO, to inflate a site’s page ranking in search results.

LMFAO sounds like you've been visiting to many porn sites to get the police/MS virus

Simple answer to that snot ! We don't sell the ad space to those who try to cheat poeple.

On the other hand, once a 1 year contract is given out, it's a little difficult to terminate, file a complaint with the registrars, and then auction out the ad space again !

If some of you notice , at times, atleast for those of you that browse porn, the image hosts do get infected as well,, this usually happens when a site is hijacked and/or sold out ...

I too have been getting scam fake av download pop ups on ET in the last couple of months, so wade7676 isn't the only one. I use Firefox, and do have Adblock Plus extension enabled, as well as pop up blocking enabled in Firefox options. This has no effect on this malware pop up, which by the way, only occurs on the ET site. I've yet to see it anywhere else. My antivirus program, (Norton), does notify me and block it before it loads though. So, though it's irritating, I can work around it. I have been a member of ET for many years and have never had this problem here before, I like the site, use it often, and am thankful to have it available. My only problem is with the reaction of the admins. to wade7575 and his complaint. I think it was unprofessional, hateful, and childish. Maybe I am wrong, but he doesn't sound like a spammer or hater to me at all. On the other hand, the admins'. responses and comments were much more inflammatory and offensive than the crime that wade7575 was accused of. This isn't the first time I've seen wrongheaded and juvenile reactions by admins though, who often jump too quickly and harshly on users for slight offenses. I have had it happen to me as well, but won't bother to take up space going into that here. In my opinion, some of them don't react well to criticism, and use bully tactics to control users when a more thoughtful and mature approach would work better. I have witnessed other users complain of the same behaviors by staff in the past, so I know I'm not the only member who may feel this way. These are my opinions, so take them or leave them.
