Hi Everyone,

Firstly, may I take this opportunity to apologise for not being able to visit the forums for a while as I haven't feeling too good; however, perking up a bit now so let me say a few big "Hellos" to some great people out there which brings me to my post:

I have two little statements I would like to address (and before you bad boys and girls get on my case again) the first one needs to be said from time to time. The second, is a little information and finally, I have a question to a topic which is driving me insane. I really hope someone can help:

(a) I would like to reiterate and reflect all the posts I have written before thanking all our magnificent Up-loaders at ETRG for their time and bringing great quality movies for our enjoyment. It upsets me some to read some of the negative posts or should I say unfounded nastiness when writing movie reviews. If a movie is not too clear or the audio is not 100% Our U/L's are still working their way to improve their work; and for which I am eternally grateful.

(b) If anyone is considering switching to a fibre optic connection DO IT NOW. Trust me, it is well worth the money. It costs me GB £20 per month and the download and uploading speeds are truly amazing. Well recommended and well worth every penny:-)

Now for my problem and I seriously going crazy with it: Every time (well, 99% of the time) Whenever I click on anything it is immediately finding a full screen pop-up advertisement. A bit of a nuisance I know and some may say "just live with it" However, most of them I can just delete them straight away except for those that are carrying nasty malware e.g. MacKeeper (and their sister company, the name of which I cannot recall just now) which has the ability to hide in quite a few obscure places. To get rid of that particular piece of malware is fairly hard and quite complex as unfortunately I am not a "techie"

It would seem that ETRG is one carrying the pest as an example every time, I click on Juggs's work and up comes an ad for betting companies or similar and occasionally MacKeeper which hides itself in system files so even if I clear caches, history and cookies it could still be lurking around. Please do not be offended Mr Juggs, you know you are one of my favourite Up-loaders and carry out some amazing work for us. This is just one example but there are many in a similar position and I know my Mac is totally clean and not to blame.

I have got my pop-up blocker switched on and never download or look at porn.

PLEASE, PLEASE HELP If anyone can offer me any advise it would be gratefully and most appreciated. Apologies for the lengthy post.

My best wishes to everyone and have a great week,

Ted.

Also if not done, Account/Settings/Show advertisement tick No.
Save changes.
Install Adblock Plus for browser if available.
Many options choose from, try Google to stop popups.

Hi there Ange1 and Gerald,

Many thanks for your input on this one but unfortunately I am still in a mess. I cannot access the link you gave me Ange as it is now blocked by Sky. I am guessing that (.cc) is the extension they have blocked?? Currently I come in using extratorrentlive.com

Are you able to assist please?

Gerald, also many thanks to my friend. I have checked my account and the ads were off as they are on my machine as well. I will have a look at Google and see what I come up with.

Sincere thanks once again and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

My Best,

Ted

Hy there Ted ... hope your problem is fixed ... but if it's still didn't try these ...
For Internet Explorer - Click the tools button (it is in the top right hand corner and looks like a cog), then select internet options. Go to the Privacy tab, and under Pop-up Blocker, select the Turn on Pop-up Blocker check box, and then tap or click ok.

For Google Chrome - First check out the default setting by going to Chrome menu, then clicking Settings → Show advanced settings → Content settings, and then checking the "Do not allow any site to show pop-ups" option. After that go to this link and install the addon then restart chrome .

For Mozilla Firefox - Like many other browsers, popup blocking should come already enabled. If, for whatever reason it isn't, navigate to Firefox → Preferences → Content, and then press the "Block pop-up windows" option. Then go to this link and install the extension and restart your browser .
And as gerald said ... disable the show advertisement option from your account settings ...

.
.
.
Hope this helps :) .

Ted want to clarify Account/Settings/Show advertisement/tick No/save changes. You said ads are off. You ticked no? Because advertisement is always on for all unless you have done this.
Maybe I missed it but you didn't mention browser used. Did you install Adblock?
Important you read link Ange1 gave, might have virus by now! Always clear cookies/cache/temp folders. Scan your system for infection.

stateofmind80's Zenmate good option.

Abhi121,s info very helpful.

Take your time and verify these simple steps have been done. Frustration begets mistakes:)

OMG You guys (and gals) are just simply amazing and the best !!! Many thanks for all your kind suggestions and SaM you are just WICKED LOL

There were some great pieces of advice there and you truly have my sincere gratitude....... I have a clean machine at last:-)

I wasn't aware that sites make $$$ from the pop-up ads and fair play I don't see anything wrong in that. The big problem for me was MacKeeper now that's a nasty piece of work for anyone with a Mac!! With all your help and a few tips from the Mac forums as well (there's some good reading there by a guy called Linc Davis) I now have everything sorted and have downloaded a coupe of ad-blockers as well.

What a great community this is - I really appreciate all the help given.

Thanks so much again and best wishes to all,

Ted

Your most welcome Ted, just happy you managed to sort it out. And thank you for the tip with those that have a Mac.
