I recently upgraded to a new computer which is faster than my old one. For some reason....I get "Err" on my dvd player at home whenever I burn a disc using ConvertX2Dvd 4. I can't understand why. I think I'm doing what I've always done,but...it's always worked in this dvd player before. The only differance is now I have a dual processor 16 times the memory and it's no longer windows Xp but windows 7. Would windows 7 not allow this program?
Could you give me some insite if you might know why?

Some dvd players can be touchy. IS it the same player you had before? Have you switched media??? Have you tried to view the disc on the computer after it is burned??? IS it a good burn?? I personally use convert 3. Any info you can give should make it a bit easier to help you.

not really sure what the problem could be,I use V4,and never had issues with playing DVD,either in PS3,PC or my cheap n nasty DVD player.

So as reno asks is it same DVD,player? and is it the same type of blank discs you are using,as this could effect the quality of burn.

any more specific info would be appreciated so we can advise a wee bit better

dont use W7 myself, but wouldn't think that or new PC would make a difference,so only think I can think that could possibly be causing the problem would be convertXtoDVD,I would suggest uninstalling it,and then reinstalling another version / copy of it,then give it a try (sorry know this would waste a disc if not fixed)

if that doesn't work then not sure.
Any one else help here?

I've actually tried each AND automatic. So far I've gone through 14 disc's...ruined obviously. here's a thought. Could it be my media? I always used memorex DVD+RW 4x 4.7gig. But since upgrading to this Dell with this 64 bit system...is it probably the Memorex? I mean in my old eMachine with one processor,it would take about an hour and 15 minutes to burn one movie. Now(even though I have no results)it does it in 35 minutes. Even though I made the encoding at it's highest value and dropped the burn to 1x(though when it starts to burn it shows it doing it in 4x)

also convertx will configure the drive speed so 4x should be ok as my pc is old and convertx burns at 8x even if i set it at 2x or 16x

Irish, again throw the disc thru your computer and see if it will play on like VLC. If it does it would be a problem with the dvd player as such, also what is it your ripping to disc, what format is it. I know I have had some that I have given out that are h264's and other people have a problem with them on there stand alones.
