Converting MKV files to other video formats

As MKV files (matroska video) are becoming more popular due to them originating as open source and frequently being used as encoding for H.264. You will find that you might have an issue while either trying to burn them to DVD or playing on portable media devices such as the PS3.

If you just simply want to convert them to another format to play on portable media,just follow the instructions below,

All complete after only a few minutes



I just used the default settings,and all converted fine.Just dragged and droped newly converted file into external hard drive and played on PS3 with out any problems

One thing I did forget to mention,was the fact that when using file with Fat32 formated hard drives, is that the maximum size of file you can use is a 4GB file.

However if you use the "file splitter" in the Configuration Settings.This will do exactly as it says's it will convert it into a playable format for the PS3 but will split the file into 2 or more segments depending on the original file size.

I have just used this to convert Avatar.3D.DvD.Scr.Deamastad which was released as an MKV format,in its original MKV it was 2.32GB and once converted to MP4 was split into 2 parts (4.19GB+0.44GB),Having watched this both before and after the conversion,there has been absolutely no loss in either audio or visual quality
