| Ok...this is not something new, but it seems more and more are complaining that they are receiving letters from their internet service providers about copyright infringement......We as staff are here to do our best to protect our members in every area we can....so i think it a great time to bring this subject up for any and all that dont have a VPN.
We as staff do our best to protect our members from threats, but we can only do so much...you as the user needs to do some work yourself to help protect yourself as well....there are many options in VPN services...some are free (a little slower and u have to deal with some adds) and there are some you need to pay a small fee...whether it be once a month or every few month...up to paying for a whole year at once....the point being if you dont already have a VPN and want to protect yourself better.....please click on this link below...its a post taker made with a list of great VPN choices.....and with that said...we want everyone to have a safe and happy experience on ET...happy surfing/downloading

Can (or should)(or is it possible) to run a VPN in congunction with a seedbox or dedicated, semidedicated server?

| Posted: Sun May 30, 2010 02:26 Author: a vpn encrypts everything you do online because your connencted through another computer. anything you do online is from another computer. But if you want to download torrents you need one that offeres port forewarding.
Seedbox you are downloading torrents to a seperate server at high speeds and anonymous. then use FTP to download to your computer.
If your just downloading torrents i recommend finding a cheap vpn that offeres port forewarding.
uploading i would go for a seedbox or even both.
downloading torrents with a vpn will be slower than normal unless you get an expensive 1,but atleast you can browse the internet safer..
I wouldnt recommend a seperate server unless you are doing tons of uploading and downloading.

I download 7-10 torrents a week, and dont do much browing searching ect online. so I just pay for a small seedbox 15.00/mo and i can download without worry, also at good speeds and keep torrents seeding.
If I were doing other things online I would go for a VPN. but if you are mostly downloading/uploading.. a seedbox all the way. Some places offer both for a good price. |

| yes Dirk you are right.....a seedbox is also a great way to go...thanks for adding to the topic...this is what i was hoping for...the more info we can give to ET members the better...its about keeping yourself safe....nobody wants to get themselves caught up in something if all possible.... |

I will be acsessing my server etc through my Linux OS and if "encrypted web acsess" is like a VPN ill have that too.
