Blocking unwanted websites.

I'm making this little guide for the people who have been scarred for life by the links in torrent descriptions that redirect to goatse and now lemonparty. Just to make this clear it is not the uploaders fault it it the redirect service that is messing up the links.

I use a hosts file to block these websites. Not everyone uses this but it is very useful in this situation.

This guide is for XP but I think it is the same for Vista and Windows 7.

First, we need to open the folder where the hosts file is located:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc

Now click the file named hosts and choose notepad to open it.



Any site you want to block can be typed in here. If you want those gross sites blocked, go to:

http://someonewhocares.org/hosts/

Now copy the section called "#<shock-sites>" like so:



Save the file and make sure you save over the original file. If you make a txt file it will not work.



Your hosts file won't be the same size unless you copy the whole page into the file and save it as it is a very long list. This will solve the problem for the link redirects for any links you click which go to those webpages. If a link redirects to any of those shock sites the page will simply not load. If the link is working correctly it will load for you just fine. I hope this is helpful!! Pls let me knw if it's workin for u guys or not !!
