| Posted: Sun Jan 09, 2011 19:47 Author: In the peer tab on most all of my uploads (uTorrent) there are a number of [Fake}uTorrent/1.8.2.0 clients listed. I have googled this w/ not much help....I am basically reading that it is a banned client doing something w/ IP. I am no expert...but it looks to me like the same client spread over several close IPs such as 85.17.79.51 to 85.12.79.57 (one sxample) and hogging up most of the bandwidth. As far as I can see I cannot prevent this from happenng...is this true?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

| Posted: Sun Jan 09, 2011 23:57 Author: Yes. I found that but the instructions are a little lacking.
"Use the ipfilter in the folder %appdata%\utorrent and add the range 85.17.79.40-85.17.79.50 to the list"
Where is the folder? Not in ProgramFiles(x86)\uTorrent or in my Windows folder.
What ipfilter?
A little more help would be most appreciated....that post is 6 months old.
Thank you very much. |

| FAKEuttorrent is a modified version of dl clients they have been around for over 7 years now nothing to worry about a lot of uploaders use it including trusted uploaders here
what you have to look out for is what site your getting those files from that have the same repeated peers if there all the same usually means it's fake

fyi u have to go control panel/folder options/view and chek view ALL files and folders
THEN
go to your documents/downloads/app data/roaming/utorrent iun ther u will find a dat file opne with notepad or notepad++ scroll down and u will c the ip address these are the ips that are being filterd as your range to the bottom and save and close.
then remeber to go bak and make all files and floder hidden again in folder option like u did at first |

| Posted: Mon Jan 10, 2011 19:43 Author: OK. The patch worked GREAT!!! Uploads have been running for awhile now w/ no sign of any [fake] clients. Thanks again to everyone. And so you know...the instructions included were very easy to follow. My uploads are now running about 10% faster. I would consider doing this if you have not done it already.
Happy uploading;) |
