With the exception of directors like Eastwood, Spielberg, Howard and Raimi, there's very few quality movies being made these days.
There's sequels, prequels, remakes (some of which should never have been made in the first place)
College slasher movies, zombies, gore and movies being made from comic hero's and even games. Most of which you have no idea whats going on. It's all CGI, and why the hell do they want to remake The Bodyguard ?
There's hardly any story line, no plot, no sub plot, no fleshing out the characters, it's all ''get
it on film and make some money quick, and if it does ok, we'll make another three''
If your personal taste runs to one or more of those already mentioned, then good for you, rock on, personally, I like to bring something away with me after watching a movie...which is why i'm exploring some of the better made oldies. If your taste runs to some of the oldies then you know where to find me..

| Thats why I love asian movies the best, loads of great directors, some great action/horror and gore, along with some great story lines, and some not so great but its all better than the majority of the dross hollywood studios make now a days.
Also getting right into independent films, low budget sometimes dross but great to find new directors/actors in something original.
Nothing I can think of for you at the moment but will let you know if anything comes to mind that I cant get. |
