How to Bring A Dead Torrent Back to Life

Download the torrent file you want to your torrent client,if it is truely dead and not downloading, remove it from your torrent client and download it again but this time save it to your computer.
For an example I will be using this torrent,
Left this on my client for a while and it showed no signs of life so to hopefully fix this we need to use the following tools,
btreannouncer and Torrenteditor
To begin with,upload the torrent file into the btreannouncer by clicking on the upload button and selecting the torrent file from where you saved it.
This then shows you the tracker info of the torrent,now click on the ReAnnounce button.
You now get the torrent file with old inactive trackers removed, now download the ReAnnounced torrent file.
I normally download the tiered meta file, again save this to your computer.
Now open up the Reannounced torrent file with the Torrent Editor.
Now to add the new trackers to the torrent,
copy and paste the required tracker as shown below,and then click on the green cross to add the tracker.
Normally I just use the tracker list for uploading here at ET,

sometimes you can add all trackers before updating them but I find it best to add them one at a time,then update and add the next one,
Once you have added all the trackers you want,you can see the changes we now are creating a torrent with seed and peer stats,if any of the new trakers added show errors or no connections just remove them by clicking the red cross to delete.
Now go to the bottom of the editor and click on download, to download a new copy of the torrent to you client.
(remember to have removed the original .torrent file from your client before doing this), Now check your torrent client,
Some times you might need to add more trackers to revive the dead torrent,see this list,

Also this method does not always work,on average I would say it works for me about 75% of the time.
This method can also be used to add trackers onto slow /low seeding torrent to increase download speeds.

| funny enough you shoul PM me this just now ive just been on that site 5 mins ago for first time in ages and it has changed layout and didny work for me,so possibly being upgrades at the moment am going to retry it the morrow to check,another thing to try is when the torrent has been loaded into your torrent client just edit the trackers,use the ones recomended here on ET upload page plus add this list here

also ensure DHT and peerexchange are enabled and if it still has any life in it you should be able to get something going.

| i'm not saying that this tut is not working. i am just curies to know... how is this possible? when a torrent is dead and it has no seeds (0 seed and 0 peers) means no one has the the torrent content file on their PC right? how does adding new Trackers to a dead torrent make it available of download the dead torrent if no body is seeding the file first? | |
