Compatibility w/some mp4 files and PS3

| I have found that some mp4 files will be recognized by PS3 and others not. Researching I have learned that mp4
can be played on PS3 but certain rules must be met. They are many and varied, ranging from file size, format,
container type, and file naming, just to name a few. For example, I have this file...Knight And Day 2010 BRRip
720p H264-3Li, which is an mp4 file. It plays fine on pc but is seen as a corrupt file by PS3. Is there a simple
way to have these files recognized by PS3 or must I continue to convert them to AVI, which works well but is very time consuming?

Your best bet is to check the video specs of the movie from the torrent descrition.
Also have uptodate codecs on your computrer, you can get them here,
k-lite codec pack
And you also dont need to convert them to avi, just use this and you can keep as MP4 and that should convert it fine to work on PS3

| Thanks Guys for your response. I also read posts and articles refering to muxing and remuxing to make it work. Also something about mp4 files having different containers and how to change or rename them...anyway,
I am new to all this and I guess I will just continue to recode the ones I have trouble with to .avi because
I dont understand all the other processes. And I also own a 360 and dont use it much. Reasons...1.-cant load
or store movie files onto its hard drive from pc or usb stick, only through XBLive, 2.-360 does not provide
upgraded video quality for standard dvd playback. I like to use my PS3 as a secondary storage for my videos
as well as watch them on it. Its just so easy to copy them directly to its hard drive from my pc. I have replaced my original hd in my PS3 with a 320gb and decided to use it to clear space on my pc. I just thought
it was wierd that some mp4 files played and some would not. I am kind of new to all this and have only had
my pc for a few months and am still learning. I also want to say that I enjoy E.T. and all of the people
behind it. Great content, info, and people, no other site compares!!!

As for the 360 no need to store on drive you can stream from PC (can also do with PS3) which will save you on discs and times.
