New "PPV" Recordings

Some people on the outside of the forum are wondering the same thing that I am, so I figured that I'd come inside and ask the question officially.

Why aren't the new Pay-Per-View recordings as clear as a DVD and why aren't they recorded in 5.1 Surround Sound?

I have 3 DVRs: one records in high-quality MPEG-2 (4-years old), the other records in 1080 IFO/VOB (3-years old), and the one in my computer records in 1080 MPEG-4 (2-years old). The latter two record in 5.1 surround sound with crystal clear HD picture.

PPV broadcasts in HD 5.1, so why are PPV torrents so poor compared to a DVD and why do they only have 2-channel audio? Does anyone know?

Oh! Thanks Oziman, I had no idea that they were CAM'd from TV. .... The lack of quality certainly makes sense then, and I guess that it's much safer for the CAM operator too (working from home rather than in the theater).
