Explanation of notation used by Microsoft in the names of assemblies:
fbl (feature build labs) - assembly, specialized development teams (fbl_dev, fbl_multimedia, fbl_powershell, fbl_shell, fbl_tools, fbl_wdk, etc.) in virtulnogo laboratories to test certain features.
winmain - main development branch Windows code
win8 - codenamed Windows 8.
m1, m2, m3 - stages of development (milestone) 1, 2 and 3, respectively.
Beta, RC (Release Candidate) - stages of public testing.
Beta-Escrow, RC-Escrow, RTM-Escrow - a status indicating that at some point the product has no major bugs in the code. Build with this status are transferred to test key and TAP-partners. If testing does not reveal serious problems - the code is signed for a public test, or go for the gold, respectively.
RTM (Release-to-Manufacturing) - the final version of the product.
