How to delete a torrent:Quick guide
| Author | Message |

| After an uploader gets his trusted icon is a really exciting and honourable thing to delete dead torrents wich are useless to our site.By this topic I would also like to say a:"BIG THANKS"for all those whom join this campaign of deleting dead torrents. But deleting torrents is not such easy just like pressing the X button and you're done,no.If you really want to delete a torrent not just to look active around the site then you must ensure is dead.Just follow the steps:
1)Download the torrent.
2)Leave it in your p2p download client(utorrent,bittorrent,bitcomet,etc...)like 5 minutes for little torrents and like 10 for big torrents.
3)Hit the delete button and write a reasonable reason like:"dead" or "dead torrent".
Also, sometimes you may get lucky to find a banned tracker in the torrent, more than 15 trackers or a broke of rule.
NOTE:Deleting of a dead torrent without being dead may result in a warning or worst.
UPDATE 18th august 2011:Sort torrents by seeds[untill you see that torrents with --- ---),start downloading from bottom to top, leave 10-15 min depending on the size and if those are havin' red icon in utorrent, red avalability,0(0)-0(0)seeders after 10-15 min. delete it.
| thanks for this post

1)Download the torrent. OK with this step, thanks
2)Leave it in your p2p download client(utorrent,bittorrent,bitcomet,etc...)like 5 minutes for little torrents and like 10 for big torrents. No totally disagree here! Why?? some times with the torrent trackers it will take longer than 10 mins for some to scrape, also not all seeders seed 24/7 so if you d/load it while its not seeding youl get nowhere, and delete a perfectly good torrent. and lastly for a torrent to seed out it dont even need trackers it can seed by DHT or peer exchange so even when the seed/leech stats show 0 0 or -- --.it can still seed out.IMO and from previous experience I would recomend leaving it on you client for a minimum of 12 hours and if possible up to 24 hours for a good check.
3)Hit the delete button and write a reasonable reason like:"dead" or "dead torrent". Or "Banned tracker" or other reason why it needs deleted
Also, sometimes you may get lucky to find a banned tracker in the torrent, more than 15 trackers or a broke of rule. If possible where there is an uploders name for the torrent PM them to explain the issues with thier torrent and fix needed to be put in place, and give them a reasonable amount of time to reply/fix,say 7 days then if no reply/fix either delete(adding uploader contacted no reply and issues or escalte to admin.
NOTE:Deleting of a dead torrent without being dead may result in a warning or worst. Hmmmmmmmmm do you know anyone that has been warned for this??? remember some who was but just cant mind their name??
Thanks for the info. | |

I would say aye delete them as alot are for other torrent site or spam, but will need clafication from admin before doing so,so if you find any, seek advice on wiether or not it should be deleted.
| another thing to look at with seemingly dead torrents is, what are the acctual trackers on it? the reason I say this is that many torrents that look dead here because of the trackers are actually still allive on working trakers. And all you need to do is add them onto the torrent in your client.
normally I will add these to see if any joy in gettting it working,

http://nemesis.1337x.org/announce
http://10.rarbg.com/announce
http://genesis.1337x.org:1337/announce
http://pow7.com/announce
9 times outta 10 it will work with these added on,and if that is the case and the torrent works then maybe leave a comment on the torrent saying so,again will need admin clarification if they want to go down this route or just delete it with out trying.
