|  Posted: Sun May 29, 2011 20:25  I see so many x264 movies around, but how to make them?
I downloaded a XVID DIVX movie, and then I used MeGUI to make it HD, but the quality didn't get any better.
How can I make x264 movies like the ones on here? What do I need?
Please help me, I also want to be an encoder. |

| well you need some sort of source,the most common being rips from DVD's,other sources can be rip's from TV and then encode them or cam rips,taking a camera to cinema and recording movie and then encoding it.
do you not have any access to DVD's at all? even renting them borrowing from library/friend or such? |

First of all you can use any converter to convert XVID to x264..dont need to use Megui as its more advanced and complicated.
And second of all you cannot increase the quality of a already compressed/converted video...(increasing the bitrate or screen ratio wont make it better)bt u can decrease it tho.
So download a high quality rip and encode it to lesser size/quality(like a 1080p to>>> 720p or 480p). Otherwise u need to find some good sources and rip them.

I have Total video converter, but converted file cant play on DVD player(say unsupported).

It is probably due to the types of files your DVD player will play,you will need to refer to your DVD players manual to see why type of files it will/will not play and convert to the files it will play. |
