Help With Ripping

A mate of mine wants me to copy my original DVD “Max & Paddy’s Road To Nowhere” but the remote control on his DVD player is broke so he can’t play anything with a menu.

I’m thinking I need to rip each episode plus the extras then put them altogether on a DVD.

Do I rip to AVI format and then join them altogether with ConvertXtoDvd 3 or is there a way of ripping to individual DVD format files and then joining together as continuous DVD files?

When changing video format do you get a reduction in quality?

What software do people use for ripping?

Thanks Don, i'd spotted Bone's upload but I want to have a go at doing it myself so i'll give dvdshrink a go.
