Graphics/Photo Editor

I looking for a graphics type program that has the facility to pick a certain colour and make it transparent.

At the moment I'm using Microsoft Photo Editor which I have to extract from the old MS Office XP Pro but it's very limited to the size of file it can open.

Anybody know of a suitable program that I can use to do the same type of thing.

It might be possible in the likes of Photoshop but I'm not very good with that and I'd much prefer a simpler and or a standalone program.

But as beggars can't be choosers, anything will do.

for transparent the images i will prefer PicPick image editor its best for transparention work g8 also comes with XP sp3 Edition...
