This is a (relatively) small collection of stuff that I find to be useful. No viruses / spyware / malware
This utility, which has the most comprehensive knowledge of auto-starting locations of any startup monitor, shows you what programs are configured to run during system bootup or login, and shows you the entries in the order Windows processes them. These programs include ones in your startup folder, Run, RunOnce, and other Registry keys. You can configure Autoruns to show other locations, including Explorer shell extensions, toolbars, browser helper objects, Winlogon notifications, auto-start services, and much more. Autoruns goes way beyond the MSConfig utility bundled with Windows Me and XP.
CurrPorts displays the list of all currently opened TCP/IP and UDP ports on your local computer. For each port in the list, information about the process that opened the port is also displayed, including the process name, full path of the process, version information of the process (product name, file description, and so on), the time that the process was created, and the user that created it.
In addition, CurrPorts allows you to close unwanted TCP connections, kill the process that opened the ports, and save the TCP/UDP ports information to HTML file , XML file, or to tab-delimited text file.
CurrPorts also automatically mark with pink color suspicious TCP/UDP ports owned by unidentified applications (Applications without version information and icons)
Eraser is an advanced security tool (for Windows), which allows you to completely remove sensitive data from your hard drive by overwriting it several times with carefully selected patterns. The patterns used for overwriting are based on Peter Gutmann's paper "Secure Deletion of Data from Magnetic and Solid-State Memory" and they are selected to effectively remove magnetic remnants from the hard drive.
Other methods include the one defined in the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual of the US Department of Defence and overwriting with pseudorandom data.
Tired of reaching for your volume knob every time your mp3 player changes to a new song?
MP3Gain analyzes and adjusts mp3 files so that they have the same volume.
MP3Gain does not just do peak normalization, as many normalizers do. Instead, it does some statistical analysis to determine how loud the file actually sounds to the human ear.
Also, the changes MP3Gain makes are completely lossless. There is no quality lost in the change because the program adjusts the mp3 file directly, without decoding and re-encoding.
Mp3 Tag Tools is GNU GPL free software, intutive ID3v1.1 and ID3v2.x mp3 tag editing utility, with several features such as Mass ID3 tagging, Write ID3 tags from Filenames and Rename Files from ID3 tags using Custom Formats, Copy/Synchronize ID3 tags, Cleaning Filenames and Correcting their case, Create ID3 tags using Directory Formats, Create Directories and organize mp3s from ID3 tag info, Export ID3 tag data, Lyrics and Picture tagging, accurately read all MPEG info and append bitrate and mode to filenames. All these tag operations can be carried out with or without directory recursion.
This is a multi-threaded system stability checker that is basically a spinoff of Prime95 suited for multicore CPUs. You can use this to make sure your system can handle an overclock reliably. I personally reccommend running it for atleast 24 hours to ensure a stable overclock.
PowerMenu is a small application that adds some extra menu items to the windows control menu in addition to the standard "Close", "Maximize", etc options. The extra menus are: Always On Top, Transparency and Minimize To Tray.
I am posting this for others cause it is a useful program and the website that originally hosted it does not work anymore. This program is virus free, as I have been using it for years.
QuickState resides in your system tray. When you click on the icon it sends the monitor into standby mode. That's it. It saves you from having to physically power off your monitor.
CT RegKey Backup is a handy utility for making backups of Registry keys and their sub keys. While it is not a Registry Editor it is an easy to use utility that restores keys that have been modified by programs or web sites. This can be a life saver in certain situations such as restoring your Home and Search page after a sleaze site has taken them over or if a newly installed program changes your favorite settings. Once a backup has been made simply clicking that backup file will restore your settings. Additionally you can use the backup file to transfer your settings to another Computer such as Outlook Express settings and accounts, Explorer settings or any other program that uses the Registry to store settings as most do. Suggested backup keys for these are included in the Help file.
Rename Master is a FREE utility for renaming large groups of files with a few clicks. Anyone that has worked with websites, file archives, or collections of music, videos, or pictures has probably spent way too much time renaming hundreds of files.
This utility will add, remove, or replace parts of the filename with ease and also supports renaming via file properties, MP3 tags, JPEG JFIF and EXIF tags. Batch renaming that's simple to use, yet still very powerful.
Tclock2 is a taskbar clock for Windows. It is an extremely simple program and takes up practically no memory. It is freeware-- public domain, in fact-- and contains no spyware. You can use it to:
* change the clock's text, appearance, etc.
* change the the taskbar (make it flat, etc.)
* make the taskbar transparent
* change the Start button
* change the Start menu
* change the appearance of the desktop icons (somewhat glitchy)
* synchronize your clock
* set alarms
* assign functions to the clock (drag file to clock = open in Notepad, etc.)
TrayIt! allows to save precious Taskbar space for minimized windows. For each application which applies TrayIt! it creates a small icon in the System Tray. (System Tray area is located near the Clock). When application's window is minimized this icon represents the application on the Taskbar instead of the regular "minimized rectangle".
It is particularly useful for background tasks you typically keep running on your PC all day long like your favorite E-mail client, Real Player, etc..
