Real Rescues (BBC TV Series 999 Live)
All of Hampshire’s Emergency Services are to feature in a new BBC1 daytime programme called 999 Live. Filming for the series is beginning now and it will go on-air in mid-June; there will be 20 60-minute programmes broadcast daily over a 4 week period. Each programme will showcase the vital work being carried out by Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service, Hampshire Constabulary, the Ambulance Service, the Coastguard, as well as the contribution made by the RNLI. Over the next few weeks,
unobtrusive, one person camera crews will be getting to know each Emergency Service and accompanying them as they respond to 999 calls. As well as these pre-recorded films, the programme will be presented live each day on BBC1. This live element will come mainly from the Police Control Room in Netley, near Southampton. However, it is hoped that the live programme will include updates from the operational centres at all of Hampshire’s blue light services. This live section of the programme will include interviews, demonstrations and advice from experts drawn from all the emergency services. However, the bulk of the programme will be the pre-recorded reports highlighting the amazing breadth of work carried out by all our emergency services - from major incidents to small mishaps. 999 Live is being made for the BBC by Topical Television.
